Engine Air Filter?

My '07 S just crossed 36K so I'm looking at self-servicing. Does it even have an air filter? Nothing in the owner's manual, and I haven't removed any covers in the engine compartment yet 'cause typing is easier then wrenching! (Not as fun, though).

yes it does. It's under the big long black thing in front of the firewall. There is also an inside cabin filter under the glove box. Pics on this page will help you see the motor filter http://www.autoxcooper.com/ddm_turbocooper.html

I got one for my MCS at the dealer for $33 including tax. You can find them online for $3 or $4 cheaper but the shipping will eat any savings. Strangely, the justacooper air filter is more expensive than the S...

I kinda thought so....

But thanks for the confirmation. Since the bolt heads all have a nice coating of dust it's pretty safe to assume they didn't change it the other day when I had the last service done.

I plan on changing mine every 10,000 miles. 300 miles to go for the first change, filter in hand...

May not be necessary but it can't hurt to change the air filter fairly often. Not that expensive and it makes you feel good.
