Help Tracking

My mini was at the port in Southampton July 23rd and i got notice from my MA July 29th that it had already shipped. I know that i can put my VIN on the WW site under cargo track to see what ship it's boarded. Since July 24th I've entered in my VIN and nothing has shown up, i know that it's possible it could have shipped through k line but according to there schedule the only ship that would have gone to my port left July 31st, so it's not possible it could be shipped through k line. On average how long does it take a VIN to show up on the WW site ?

So, I had the same questions when I ordered my 2009 S Convertible, and after it arrived, I documented my timeframe here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ni-she-is.html

Here is the summarized version of what you're looking for I believe.

How long did it take from begining to end:
  • Feb 20th - Booked on the Topeka Vessel.
  • Feb 24th - Build process started.
  • March 4th - Build process completed.
  • March 6th - Arrived at the terminal/port.
  • March 13th - Loaded on the Topeka.
  • March 14th - Departed South Hampton for NY City.
  • March 15th - WW site updated to show all the above information by entering my VIN as the Cargo ID.
  • March 23rd - Arrived in NY City, and then Departed for Panama.
  • March 28th - Arrived in Panama, and then Departed for Port Hueneme.
  • April 8th - Arrived at Port Hueneme and then transported to the VPC/VDC in Southern California.
  • April 10th - Discharged from the VPC/VDC and on the car carrier to East Bay Mini.
  • April 14th - Arrived at East Bay Mini, JCW options to be installed starting the 14th.
  • April 16th - Pickup my baby from East Bay Mini.

For WW the VIN will usually show up about a day before the ship leaves Southampton. What area are you in and which dealer did you order from? If you're coming to the west coast your car will likely be on a WW ship. And if you have been at SH for a week, likely you are on the Toronto that left today (my friend's car is on that ship). If you're on a Kline (mostly east coast port deliveries) I *think* your MA should be able to tell you what ship you're on.

i live in Troy Michigan and the car will be arriving at the South Carolina Port and i know the the ship that had my car left at least by the 28th and the Faust left the 28th but the tracking would have already shown up by now

If the Faust is a Kline ship your VIN will not show on the WW tracking site. Not sure how to verify if a car is on a Kline ship other than talking to the MA.

Hmmm, my car is also on the Faust and I've been tracking the ship which is due to arrive in NY tomorrow. I was able to track my car on the WW website too. Check it out: http://www.marinetraffic.com/AIS/shi...MMSI=266260000

Ooops, I just realized you're not sure which ship your car is on...sorry.

I believe I read someplace that K Line does not make it easy to see if you car is on board like WW does. If your MA can give you the ship name, the site above is great for tracking the progress. I found that when the ship is on the open sea it does not always show up. When it gets close to a port it will show up in real time and you can actually see it move along. Once it docks you can zoom in and get an actual picture of the off loading. I watched mine arrive in NY, go to refuel and then drop off the cars.

If you can get Google Earth you can follow it the entire time.

Jim
