Considered upgrading my 2007 S for a 2009 JCW
Today I took my 2007 MCS into Inskip Mini (Rhode Island) for it's 2 year service appointment. While I was there, I decided to test drive a JCW.
Once the JCW was started, I pushed the "sport" button, and set off. As soon as I pulled out if the dealership, I had a Local Warwick cop follow me all the way to the highway, so no real test of the acceleration. As I finally pulled onto the Highway, a Rhode Island State Trooper was right behind me. Arrrg.
Once I finally lost the cops, I was able to do 1 quick acceleration, then another Warwick cop pulled up behind me. oh, Well. I was able to do several starts & stops, and I can tell you I was very impressed by the low RPM torque.
After considering the car & price of the Base JCW, I decided that the Factory JCW was too much for me to spend $$ on. It would cost me about $36k for a car configured like my MCS.
What I did instead, was ordered the JCW tuning kit for my car. I know it's not as powerful as the Factory JCW, but I love my car and ordered it to have only the options I wanted. I just wished it had a little more zip.
I am getting the JCW tuning kit installed next week, and will give you folks an update on how it goes...
Thanks to Jaymes & Geoff in Service, and for Tim Ansay for letting me drive the Factory JCW without a co-pilot.
If anyone out there has had a Tune kit done to their MCS, can you let me know how smooth the upgrade went?
