Going in for service in a week, a few questions/concerns.

So this car is new to me, have had it for 1 week. 07 MCS 6spd, will have 20,000 miles at this service. Still under 3/36 maint. and warranty.

It's due for an oil change after the 16th, so it's going in for mainly that, but I have some other concerns I have with the car so far.

After driving for a week, I've noticed some things that I've tried searching on here for and haven't found an answer for or anything on yet.

First is the rear part of the sunroof rattles bad when only tilted open, not when all the way open or shut. I can't physically see anything or move it around at all. Any ideas to tell the service advisor?

Second, the keyless ignition remote that goes into the slot is weird, tricky and just plain hard to get out. I haven't found anything on this, maybe I'm searching the wrong thing.

Third, Rattle in the driver's door...weird thing is, it doesn't do it with the window down just a little bit. If window is all the way up, it makes noise.

Fourth and last, most concerning is the transmission seems weird. The neutral area seems very stiff and doesn't move back and forth very freely as compared to other cars I've had in the past. Also, seems a bit "different" in going into gears than I'm used to. This could be me, but didn't feel like the 05 that I drove. Any ideas?

Am I unrealistic about the 3 concerns? I'm taking it to the dealer it was bought new at. They are also giving me a loaner car since I work during the day and will have to drop it off right before they close for the night.

I would tell the SA the same thing you have reported here and see what they say.

If it's still under warranty, you shouldn't have any problem gettng any of that fixed. The 2 dealers I have dealt with have been very quick to fix everything I had a problem with. Especially if you bought it from that dealer, they shouldn't think twice about anything since you just bought it a week ago. They're probably going to have someone take a short ride with you just to make sure the rattles are really happening, at least that's what they did for me.

As for the key, are you pushing it in further before you pull it out?

Neutral seems a little stiff to me too, but I've gotten used to it and now I don't even notice it. I asked about it once and they said it wasn't sticking or anything and that it was fine.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I did not buy it from this dealer, but it was bought there when new. I got it used at a Mazda dealer.

The key, I push it in all the way, not sure on how this is supposed to work, but I'll usually push it til it "locks" in place, not loose. Lights come on, push start. Sometimes, it's just pushed in barely sitting in there and has come out on me before and a key light comes on. If I get it in there when it's tight, it is hard to get it back out, I push it again, nothing, it's weird.

It's usually push it in straight all the way till it clicks, push the clutch, then start the car with the button. To take it out you push it in till it clicks again then it'll come out a little further and you pull it out. I don't think I've ever read about a problem like that on here. Hopefully they don't try to blame that one on you (or the person that had it before) I could imagine that part of the car being quite expensive to replace if it's broken.

All things that the previous owner did not take the time to get fixed. All should be covered and fixable.

Some are known problems or problems that you will feel better about when your MINI is fixed.

I would have them check the transmission very carefully as well as the clutch.

Yeah, I'm not sure on that one. I hope they don't. I know someone at the Mini dealer, I'm hoping that will work to my benefit. Guess we'll see!
