Differential

Will the limited slip differential work in conjunction with the electronic differential control incorporated in the sport package?

Thank you,
Mick

Of course. They would not have offered it as an option if they didn't. Plus, the limited slip is great to have for rain or snow, or just WOT launches.

Odd: the LSD is not offered on the JCW because the JCW already has the ELSD. Why would they offer both on the MCS and not on the JCW?

Answer: because they don't offer both on the MCS. The sport package provides Dynamic Traction Control, not Electronic Differential Control.

Interesting. Besides, I would rather have a mechanical limited slip than a electronic one any day.

Me too, but unfortunately the mechanical LSD just isn't available on the JCW. BIG mistake on BMW's part., but I guess I can always install a Quaife or retrofit an OEM.

It is an advanced programming of the ABS system. If the computer discovers that one front wheel is spinning faster than the other with throttle applied, it will apply the brake to that wheel to force more power into the other wheel that has traction. Should work great, but I'm a mechanical engineer and don't trust them goofy little electrons.
