Where are they discounting?

I've heard that dealers are offering discounts on in-stock minis and perhaps even on ordered minis. I received a call from my local mid-Atlantic dealer that it had a huge inventory of available minis and to come on out and pick mine up today. So I high-tailed it out there and looked through their huge inventory. Of course, most cars were highly optioned or not the perfect color. So I asked the sales guy whether there was any advantage to purchasing it from stock versus ordering. He said no. The dealer management wasn't discounting the prices at all. If you wanted a car a different way then I should just order it. This is a dealer with close to 200 cars in stock.

So where people getting the discounts? I had heard east coast but does that mean Florida or do I just need to look at a different dealer in the mid-Atlantic?

if we knew where U are are this'd be easier.

try areas of the country thick with dealerships (central and eastern time zones) for the best possibility on ordered car discount. If you find one, dont expect much, I dont believe posters who claim they got more than a thou off on an ordered car. If you can find $500 off msrp congrats U did good

reason why there's so much dealer stock is that the factory shut down in dec so dealers got higher than normal allotments to carry them thru. That and gas being cheap again. that and dec/jan is the absolute worst time of the year to buy any car.

There's one huge advantage: no waiting.

Your best bet would be to pay a visit to the Dealer you like the most on January 30th or 31st and if they stock a car you want,
make an offer.

Any stock carried over to February will cost the dealer, so this would be the best time to get your offer accepted.

Never expect a dealer to make their lowest offer to you, it must be their acceptance of your offer
and this could also result in a counter offer.

You are playing a game with a professional and you may need to walk away to get your best price.
