Colorado Mini Drivers!

I'm a Coloradoan who sadly lives in Southern California. I will be driving home to C/S for Christmas in my MCS and was curious what tires do fellow Colorado Mini folk drive with? I will be taking a few days trip to Copper Mountain and/or A-Basin (finally use my roof rack for my snowboard not my surfboard ). Other than that it'll be I25 between Fort Collins (gotta hit up New Belgium and Odell's) and Colorado Springs. Really looking forward to playing in the snow which I miss so much.

Anybody know if the stock Run Flats handle okay in light snow?

Thanks for you advice/opinions.

Light Snow... sure, no problemo. Packed snow and ice up a long up hill drive way that hasn't been shoveled since 1859... no. That's the only time I've had trouble in the MINI.

I have been getting around well with a set of 16inch Falken Ziex 912s, but I have not done a run into the ski areas and I don't think I would with the 912s.

If you have decent set of M/S and have some of the fancy tire chains for MINIs for the fronts, you should be fine up at A and/or Copper.

Of course, I would not chain up my MINI, but you might think on it.

Unless it is a 12 or 18 inch new snow, then stay home or get out the family Jeep.

Have a good trip home.

I run 195/55R16 Blizzaks WS-50 this time of year. They go on when the time changes and off in the spring (usually two days before the last big snow).
I don't have any issues getting around all winter except for clearance during big snows or ice ruts. I drive my MINI year round.
One thing to note: sometimes you will need to switch off your DSC in order to allow your tires to spin. This is especially true on ice when starting.
Be sure to watch for our club activities and come to a meeting if you get a chance.
