Ordered 7/24, got mine on 9/29. Drove several "economy" rental cars in the interum... still re-learning how to drive a turbo car.
TIP: don't just ride the throttle when merging onto a busy interstate like you would with the Hyundai Elantra.

Ordered 8/5 during the factory vacation, and drove it off the lot 9/30. Can't really complain, it was less than 8 weeks.

4 months is longer than I would be willing to wait...I see around here people are naming their cars!!!! Been around custom car building for years and I think this is the first car I see everyone naming. Is this something new or have Mini owners been doing this for a long time??

My lease just ended. I pretty much just planned ahead so the wait hasn't been a big deal for me at all.

As for the name, this is a first for me. We shall see if it sticks. I have a feeling I'll be hollering at my DH that I'm "takin' the mini out" not "taking Joon out"....but what the heck. Thought I'd give the naming thing a shot.

In '02 it took 6 months, but it was ordered before the first one had even arrived in Philly. In '05 it took exactly 2 months (first batch of '06's) and in '08 (first batch of '09's) it took 2 months, four days.

Ordered on 8/21 and was told it should be October build and to the dealer in mid-December. Checking the OL I see that it is currently built and waiting for transport. This seems like it may get here a bit early. How long is the avg time to go from waiting for transport to being at the dealership?

Not sure about average...Mine left on the Isolde on 9/29 and I'm expecting delivery around the beginning of November. So, between water time and highway time...4-5 weeks for Colorado folk.

It seems like 10 weeks is the norm, but I have seen some wait 4 months

If you are trying to estimate your wait, replies here must be taken in context.

Many people ordered 2009s before any 2009s were in production, so there are various delays pre-build that are not indicative of what you'll find going forward. I "decided" to buy a 2009 in late May. I told my MA to let me know when 2009 orders could be taken, knowing that 2008 slots could be booked through late August. He took my deposit in late July. He got me one of the very earliest 2009 builds, and it began on 8/24...finished 8/31.

The boat trip was quick/normal but there was an EPA delay/backup for trucks/weekend issue that stretched things out.

So I had to wait a while after I ordered, but I don't think it is fair to count anything before the car went into production. And the final 2 weeks of delay (thank you EPA ) are not likely to be repeated when you order.

Get a production slot from your MA and add 4.5 weeks if you live in the northeast. Add appropriate time depending where you take delivery.

I am in Daytina Florida and we have a major port in Jacksonville....not sure it will come in there or not. Since it is now scheduled for production I am hoping for a speedy delivery.....I would be happy getting it at the end of November.

My wait will be close to 4 months once all is said and done, but that really works out as an advantage for me as far as financing goes, its just more time to save up for a down payment, and it gave me the time to sell my suburban privately instead of trading in. If I'd had to trade that thing in I would have gotten taken advantage of. But if I had cash in hand ready to go, 4 months is too long to wait, I'm sure I could find the right mini somewhere in the country. End of november still seems like way too far away...

The Traviata with my MINI on board left Southampton on 9/16 and arrived in Port Hueneme on 10/6 so 20-21 days. Figure on 3 weeks at sea for West Coast deliveries. Scheduled to be at dealer this Saturday the 11th.
