R56 Best Tank Ever...Just a Cooper Only:)
You're right....and even though manual R56 Coopers are the reigning kings and queens of mpg (for now), it is a proud day for MINIs in general. I am very pleased that we are such a solid part of the current mpg discussion.
Best so far was 498 miles on 12 gallons = 41.5 MPG. This was 90% interstate @ 70 mph, AC on, 2 people, loaded (as much as an R56 can be "loaded") for vacation, using Shell 93. I consistently get 35-37mpg locally (state roads/some city) even with a daily dose of spirited driving on my local twisties. Pepper Jack rocks
WOW... you guys rock!!!
My best was around 405 miles and it's about with 2 bars left on the gas gauge. 70% freeway
=+=+=
ps. I just noticed this thread for only cooper so i don't belong in this thread...

500+ is no problem on an MC. Just filled up today - 500 miles right on, with three petals left. OBC said 41.7 mpg (I calculated a true 40.0) and 95 miles remaining.
The highest number of miles remaining I've seen on the OBC right after a fill is 665.

I'm with 'iwashmycar' on this one - can't WAIT to get my MCCS! My son started driving my Subaru to school, so I'm stuck with the Moutaineer - do I hear 16 mpg, and about 65 miles of driving each day?!
Even with an S I'm sure I'll be delighted...

Oh......... you are all talking MILES! Those number would suck if you meant km's.
Sorry, I have an MCS -- I don't belong in this thread.

I've gotten two 40+ mpg tanks. My last fillup was 45 mpg! I'm pretty math-challenged, but I did it again and sure 'nuf, that's what it said. I calculate all my mileage by hand; barely look at the OBC for that.
You S people can't take a hint, can you??
And this is the 2nd gen forum!!!
That means...if I get the OP's drift...that we're talkin' R56 Coopers. Yes, plain ol, non mail-slot-in-the-bonnet, single exhaust tip Coopers...you know, the slow one. No whirring, or whining, or torque steering, or Ss anywhere in any of the badges. Not the help-I-keep-getting-tickets version or melted scoop version or I need more gauges version. Cooper....just Cooper...no S. Am I right, CG???
Why be such a curmudgeon, you may ask??? Well, it's simply an apples to apples thing...'tis unfair (and couter-informational) otherwise. So you MCS owners please sit on your hands
and let us proper Cooper owners fess up on our mpg, okay??
Now....
My best tank was 43.2 mpg on the OBC in city driving....I figure that's got to be around 40 mpg calculated...and remember, that is city. I do little on the highway, but when I do the OBC just keeps climbing past 46 mpg. Don't know if it will go past that...I'll never do a full tank on the highway, most likely.
I do drive for economy as best I can. I coast and try to anticipate lights....although in city driving I have good days and bad days, that's just how it is. I also find it helps to not be first at the light
, but to have at least one car in front of me. That way, I can get a smoother, easier-on-the-throttle start w/o worrying about the MCS behind me who can't wait to get to the next light.
I tease.....I tease.

anyways... I did shoot for gas mileage once. I reset my OBC and tried my best to get good mileage from my girlfriend's house to mine (about 8 miles, city, 6 lights, 1 speed bump) I managed 40.2 mpg all the way into my driveway. But since the gas pedal is almost my best (second only to my steering wheel) I've never averaged more than 26 mpg to a tank w/ an average of 23 mpg. Idk how many miles I've gone b/c I don't let it get below 1/4 tank
worst ever mileage--15 mpg (I was at the track)
other info--20mpg at 100mph
sorry to all those who want me to keep my supercharger-loving self away from this thread
