Hah!

Remember, I'm just getting a Cooper base with Auto Transmission. 90% of the time I drive the car will be for my daily commute (NJ Turnpike). Comfort / laziness is a huge reason for getting auto and the armrest.

Ya, you're not the 1st one I've heard with that. Had I know they were making that "mistake", it would have been a mistake I would have loved to have had happen to me; I wanted that red leather, but wifie wouldn't let it happen due to the red door panels.

i'm a 6speed owner who loves his armrest.

It's low enough that when I'm rippin through the gears, it doesn't get in the way of my arms, yet high enough that when I'm in gear, my arm can rest on it. I couldn't imagine not having it.

And I got everything I ordered... I think... Not too sure about the LSD, I guess I have to just trust them on that...

I was half kidding. Although I am getting a 6 MT, I ordered the armrest (with comfort BT/iPod adapter). I like having it for highway driving, which is easily half of the miles I put on a car.

Why does everyone hate the armrest? It seems good to me, although I don't own a Mini yet.

I have wondered the same thing.
Some people have expressed an near visceral hatred of the center armrest.
It's weird! It's just an armrest! It didn't pee on my lawn or get my sister pregnant. Actually, most of the time it just sits there.

I like it. I drove a MINI w/o it and I didn't know where to put my arm.
Had to have it, got it, set up my phone with the cradle.
Very comfortable and very convenient.

Just wait till she rests her arm on it.

Seating Comfort in My MINI

MINI USA thinks that we would prefer the 'slide-top' Center Armrest or none at all, so I do hope that some of you like it.

I did not care for it that much, but I did want a Center Armrest.

The brand-new Cooper that I had just test-driven was absolutely equipped as I was Ordering except for No Armrest and Standard Seats (And she preferred 'standard' and I wanted 'sport ). Being the end of a record month, they made me an offer that I 'could not refuse' to cancel the order and take the car I had just driven. Since MINI's options did not appeal to me anyway, I took the offer, thinking that I could fit the interior more to my liking, 'on my own'.

I ordered the Wet Okole Kit and extra 'yellow material' and 44# of Memory Foam As well as the MINI's larger European 'flip-top' Center Armrest and here is how my seating looks now (with 2.5" of MF on Armrest):

I have also modified this armrest to ride at a higher angle than standard (I have Auto Shift) and folded Up is not ideal while driving.

So many ways to have your MINI

You can also find Center Armrests that are smaller than the MINI USA Version, but the above suits me best.

Another photo below shows it 'Up' (seats are back) and this is a far as it folds up:

The two strips of yellow tape hold the hard rubber spacer I use to keep it higher (and springy) in normal position.

^those look nice, especially since they have actual storage, however the standard arm rest is just low enough to not get in my way of shifting... If it were any taller, my car would become a 3 speed.... 1st, 3rd, 5th.

no dice

I just got word form my MA that I won't be getting the Comfort Bluetooth retrofit... it wouldn't bother me if I didn't already buy the BMW phone cradle for it that I can't return. I'd like to use that.

Anyone know what the part number of the harness that leads to the stock center armrest is; wiring for power & antenna?
