So i just got my MINI a few weeks ago and I am starting to look into mods. I figured a new intake was a good place to start and it seems that most everyone raves about Alta. I was looking at their page and it claims that the intake boosts HP by around 10HP.

First off is that accurate? Secondly is it noticeable?

Then i started thinking about divertor valves, or the turbo inlet tube that Alta sell to go along side the intake. What do you think about those two items?

Lots of us install an intake, regardless of manufacturer claims, the underlying intent is that the stock unit is restrictive. Concurrent with an intake install you should open up the hood scoop to allow more air flow into the under hood area.

One other comment, do not restrict yourself to one vendor, there are plenty of other's out there in the market now, others that are better quality, less expensive, go through the mods section and look for other intake options.

 

I myself have the Alta CAI with the open diverter box and silicone hoses,very pleased with it so far it gets a bit cramped on the fitting over the throttle valve but not to bad. As for hp you wouldnt really notice any since kinda small
but really nice sound paired up with 17% reduction pulley
