Engine knock Update

First off I understand that this is a topic on the "Stock Problems" section, but I would like to hear from the 2007+ boys and girls.

When I test drove this car I thought I had found my future car and then I needed to do some research... and then I started reading about this cold weather start issue / engine knocking noise from a cold start; this concerns me greatly.

I live in Denver and this WOULD be an all season car... however I need to know how much this is an issue. From the MINI2 forums it sounds like some engines have been replaced also with some people that have had engine parts replaced. However MINI still doesn't know what the issue is.

Help

Mine has done it (clacking on cold start) for 10,000 miles and hasn't blown up yet.

No problems here, but then I live in the South where it doesn't really ever get that cold.

If you are referring to the startup chatter, or clatter, that some of us have experienced, "cold start" refers to the engine being at ambient temperature, rather than warmed up. It's not limited to icy cold weather. The first time I heard it was June 2007 after I washed and waxed my MINI. I'm at 23,000 miles, with no apparent ill effects. I asked a MINI dealer to record the noise in my car's history, just in case problems do develop. Don't let it scare you off. Great car

Mine started doing it this spring(colder than Denver). Gone with the warmer temps. Probably be back in the fall. NBD in my opinion, just a warranty repair.

Wasn't this supposed to be fixed in the cars built after May 07?
