My Old Vehicle Died... Time for a MINI!

Well, my old 1992 Mazda Protege (fun car, I must add!) finally stopped ticking after a particularly fun track day! He was a very good boy, old though... his final mile was a hair over 275,000.

Nobody knows what is wrong with it, and the mechanics are suggesting specialists. I figured, hey, he lived a long and very fun life... I think it's time to let my old boy go. Some people might think it's silly to feel sad over such an old car, but boy, we've had some times together!

So I thought, Hey, I just got a new job, it's time for a new car! I figured I'd check out the MINI Cooper S, as it might remind me of my old Protege (roughly the same size, except the MINI is a bit bigger), and I'm expecting roughly the same handling/power characteristics (it was a sleeper).

My main question: Will I be disappointed with a fairly bare bones MINI Cooper S? I'm test driving some on Saturday by appointment, but I'm pretty sure all I want is a Pepper White S with Anthracite Headling, Xenon Headlamps, and that's about it. Besides, I'm used to zero options (Protege had no speakers and manual locks/windows) and I figure I'd get the MINI of my dreams in a few years, and I haven't heard a bad thing about them! Thanks for any input!

A Bare Bones Cooper S is really not that bare bones all things considering, and it sounds like it will be a step up option wise from your previous car. Go for it!

Haha, yeah, that is exactly what I was thinking. I know when I test drive it, I'll be posting pictures of my new baby here in a few days... we'll see.

Thanks!

A lot of us car enthusiasts have very fond memories of past cars we have owned and loved the adventures they have taken us on.So no need to apologize for feeling that way.

Plus I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how well the MCS will handle and drive.

If you are thinking "bare bones" MCS as you mentioned most of the dealers stock fairly equipped cars so to get the color and the 2 items you mentioned you would be better off ordering one.

If you're thinking you'd like to take a MINI out to the track, you ought to check out this little baby.

only options a MCS need are Xenons, LSD and MFSW
