When i leave in "D" on the S. It seems to shift at 3000 rpm. don't matter if you stomp on the pedal or feather it. its definitely useful for the track but not on daily drive (i get low mpg) so i usually use the manual for lower shift point to get 27-28 mpg average

I take it back 3k rpm is too low when u r on the track. so got to use the S, i havent tried at which rpm will it shift then but i am guessing its close to redline.

I look at it this way: the 2nd gen Cooper automatic is a LOT faster, a LOT more responsive, a gets waaaaay better mpg than the 1st gen car.

Go drive a 2003 with a CVT, then drive a 2007+ with the Aisin, and see for yourself.
