R56 Stuck Seat Belt?
Stuck Seat Belt?
I'm going to my dealer tomorrow to check it out but just figured I'd take a shot in the dark here. Might save me some gas...
Anyway, I was trying to load stuff into the back of my MINI last weekend and found the MINI wasn't cooperating. See I was able to drop only one of the two rear seats down. For some reason the rear seat belt (behind the driver) doesn't budge, so I can't lower that seat. So in other words if someone wanted to use that seat belt to save thier lives they couldn't because it doesn't budge.
I tried doing it with the car on and with the car off. I tried pressing the brakes, the gas, and whatever else I could think of.
Is there some sort of "lock" that might be causing this seat belt to "lock" but all the others work fine?
Please tell me I'm just a total n00b and I there's a easy fix...

The belt should clear the side of the seat to allow it to fold down, anyway.
The seat belts lock with an inertia bar. You apply the brakes and the inertia bar overpowers a spring and prevents the roller from allowing slack. The roller must be given slack to allow the inertia bar to return to the normal postion. Sometimes the spring doesn't pull the bar back....which sux. I would call them, but if nobody rides in the back hold off going back until it suits you better.
Good luck!

I had the same thing happen to me on an out of warranty Jetta. They offered to go halvsies. It was the middle belt so I just removed it. I'm just saying, it's happened before and who knows, maybe the same supplier. Maybe your problem is easy. I thought mine was, but it wouldn't unlock.
