Using iPhone With iPod Adapter

If I use my iPhone with the iPod adapter, will it also charge my iPhone?

If so, is there any real reason to get the armwrest insert for the iPhone?

Most of the time I will probably leave my iPhone in my pocket and just use it through the bluetooth. But on some long trips, it will be useful to be able to charge it. But if it will charge from the iPod adapter, then I don't see any reason to get the armwrest adapter for the iPhone. Am I missing something?

If you get the Bluetooth/USB option, the cable is included to connect to an iPhone.
