To LSD or not to LSD
I have a MCS manual on order. I debated on getting LSD but finally decided against it as I don't track my car and may never use it. So here are the questions
1. If there were no LSD option available would you have had less fun with your MINI
2. Does LSD affect resale value, anyone has experience
3. Why would LSD not offered on auto tranny. Is it just to prevent any chance of fun that you may get with it just because you made the choice of auto tranny. or there is any technical incompatibility reason.
4. What would be a hypothetical limit on LSD price which would have prevented you from choosing the option

I don't think I would be having less fun without the LSD, but I certainly enjoy it while autocrossing or for spirited drives.
I can't imagine it affecting resale value much - after all, it's only a $500 option to begin with, and 90% of the buyers in the world probably don't understand it or care about it.
I think the lack of an LSD with the automatic transmission is a technical/space limitation, rather than a "punishment" from MINI for buying an automatic.
I wouldn't have bought the factory LSD if the price started to approach that of an aftermarket LSD like the Quaife. The Quaife is a better unit, but for me, it's not $800 better (plus installation time/cost), so we went with the factory LSD on both of our MINIs.
