OEM Roof Rack question...

How difficult is it to install and remove.

I want to order one for when my car is delivered, but I don't want to leave it on.

It's bike season and I also don't have a roof rack on my CayenneS. I was using a trailer hitch mount on the truck (too tall to have a roof rack, I'm a short guy), but the mini should be easier and I can finally take home a whole piece of drywall from homedepot without renting their truck....

If you do a search for roof rack, you'll find a how to thread that shows putting it on.

I'm leaving mine on because I don't mind the look of it. As my husband says, it adds a little "Grr" to my mini. Pics in my gallery.

I just went looking but couldn't find that thread. But I recall that it was very easy to put on and take off. Apparently the R53s needed to have holes drilled in the roof (at locations backed with welded-on nuts), but the R56 has slots that the oem rack mounts into.

Caulyne, have you found that your mpgs drop with the roof rack on?

I'll see if I can find it for you in a bit.

I haven't had it off the car, so I don't know what it would be with it off. I'd say 80% highway/ 20% city I'm getting about 37 mpg. Only a little whistle around 75+, but that's with a sunroof too.
