R56 Colored Rims?
Colored Rims?
I was looking through a thread and someone had their wheels colored black and they were originally silver. So I want to know how to color them. Do you use spray paint, regular paint or what? And the rims that I would be painting are the either the standard rims that come with the S (S-winders) or the Crown spokes.
The reason i'm asking is because yesterday on may way home from work I saw this AMAZING looking mini parked on my block. It was Chili Red with a black roof and black bonnet stripes and ALL shiny
it looks so much better in person than from pics on the computer. Anyway that was the color combo I originally wanted but I wanted black rims with it and I dont want to spend 3k for the JCW rims. So if I decided to paint those rims black, that I mentioned. How would I go about doing it.

haha so what is powercoated and how is it done? and where would I go to get it done?
google powdercoat. it's this process about it that's better than spray paint
there're local shops everywhere that do powdercoating. again you can google them but to get the best prices ask around your local area or the regional forums here

powdercoating is where they electrostatically paint your rims and then bake them in an oven. This is the same process that your fridge or stove has for any painted surface. It's very very durable. Try googling for a better description of the advantages.
As for finding someone, you need to look in the yellow pages and ask if they do wheels. You will also need to ask if they mount/dismount the wheels. My guess is you may have to put your car on blocks to do this if they are not an auto specific shop.
