Windshield heating button?

Does anyone know where/how does the windshield heating button (not talking about the heated windshield washer) get installed in the MCS? I have the cold weather package but no windshield heating button. I was reading the user manual and found this button in the climate section. I just wondering if I didn't get something that I should have.
Thanks in advance.

There is no such thing as a "Windshield Heater" Button. The only thing heated are the Windshield Washer Jets, Heated Power-Fold Mirrors, and Heated Front Seats, these are listed in the configurator Pg. 2 under "Cold Weather". Post a pic. of the button you are describing.

You don't live in Canada, so you don't get the heated windshield. Yet another denial for us poor Ahmurikans

Yeah, I didn't see it being offered in the configurator but I did see the option in the user's manual. Hence the confusion. Thanks Ryephile, for the clarification!

So of the places in the upper part of the US get as cold as Canada. So why can't we get heated windshield?

Wrong. It is simply deleted on the US spec versions. It's the blank button in the 4 button array on the center stack. Beleive it or not, this feature was deleted after marketing surveys suggested us dumb-*** Americans were confused by it! (Why a defroster button and a windshield heater button).

In each market decisions are made about what equipment to offer and often these decisions seem somewhat arbitrary. No powerfold mirrors in Canada at any price, for example. The heated windshield is a $190 option here.

I'd pay $200 US for this option and I'm not even in the north.

brg513 , my 08 MCS has this button . It comes with the auto climate control.
It is not a heated windshield , just directs most of the air to the windshield . The button just has a picture of the windshield on it . The rear defrost button has wavy lines on it . The buttons are side by side .

If that is true, that's something new. No, wait. You are talking about the defroster button. There is another button that is separate from that and on the US versions, it's just a dummy button.

Not a dummy according to my MA . He explained the operation of it in detail at delivery . Unless my MA is a dummy . LOL I don't see that it makes much difference , if any . But has not been cold enough to know for sure .

Wrong button! The windshield heater button also has wavy lines on it, but a curved windshield.

It doesn't on the US model. But, then again, this is MINI, so I wouldn't doubt some do work here.

I've seen the heated windshield in action on a Canadian-spec R53; it's very hot! [sorry, I couldn't help the pun!]

So how does the heated windshield work? Are there electric wires running through the windshield?

Okay, just to clarify, I looked at the 4 button array last night. The left-most button is blank (on my car anyway). This is the button for the windshiled heater. The right-most button is the windshield defroster button. It works by directing almost all the hot air to the windshield at a super high fan speed. Very noisey. On the other paw, the windshield heater (which the US doesn't get) works by electronic elements and makes no noise. Nor does it require the engine to be warm.

Usually heated windshields block EZ-Pass toll modules and radar detectors.

So is this a ture heated windshield like the grooming machines we use at the ski resort? If so, $200 is a cheap option for this. One pane for a groomer (less square ft. than my minis glass) costs over $600.

If this is the same, I see an order being placed in toronto and a road trip coming up...

I'm thinking you'll have to trick them into thinking you're Canadian, eh?
