I had read somewhere (unable to cite) that one of the things that the comfort access fob does is unlock the steering wheel lock.

I think that the only way to test it would be to lock the car, place the fob out of range, unlock the car with the physical key and see if the steering wheel is locked.

No convenient access on my car, and no steering lock either.

I don't miss it. Besides if someone really wants the car they know how to defeat the steering wheel lock.

No Comfort Access and No SWL on mine. (Did think they were 'mandated' but glad not to have it.)

Previous two cars w/SWL did have failures of that 'feature' causing 'stranding' and expensive fix.

Mine is a week 12 build w/intermintant Auto Transmission 'Park' Lock and would rather not have that 'feature' as well.
Rather have these features as an option, or at least the option to disable.

Would make sense to have a Park/Fob removal interlock..
MINI 'knows' and trixy shows a graphic of car rolling if you don't have her in Park

Know all makes w/button-start have it, but can't see the point of Brake/Starter-interlock either,
Yes
to Neutral/Park Starter-interlocks.

Mom had a 1935 Ford when I was born and for duration of 'War Auto Shortage' and it did have SWL.

It doesn't?

That fact had passed me by, so I just had to go chck and Shawn does not have a steering lock. I never deliberately engage it, but I make sure to disengage the (non existent) lock if it would cause a problem, so I'd never noticed that.

Maybe they took away the steering wheel lock and in exchange you got auto up windows. I have the lock (may 07 build) but no auto up windows.

Yea I really don't see any need for a steering wheel lock, its in no way a theft deterrent, as its simple for any thief to get around.

I wish my 04 did NOT have a steering wheel lock as ours has stranded my wife requiring a wrecker due to the steering wheel lock beeing unable to release.
