I'm pondering it, poidog, and I think I learned to love DSC because our BASUV had it. Our MINI has it, but I agree that you'll be fine without it. It is useful for unlikely and unexpected situations but so is a parachute. If you know your car, you know its limits and swervy wipeouts often come from drivers who don't know the limitations of their vehicles.

Congratulations on the job and the MINI. Post pics when you get it.

I'd wait and get the car just as you want it (and I agree that DSC is better then the ASC you get sans it; I also needs and use fog lights).

Congrats on your decision. With a name like poidog, you had to be from CHGO So what neighborhood are you near?? I'm assuming you don't have to street-park it and have a garage which is nice. did you buy from Patrick or Knauz?

what?? you'll never have the urge to take your MINI up Sheridan Rd without touching your brakes???

If you're not doing anything on 4/18 (MINI or not) We'll be at Superdawg for a spell. check it out here: http://chicagominiclub.com/

It doesn't look anyone really answered the fog light part of the question. My Cooper doesn't have front fog lights, but it looks like it does. They're just not functional. You can see in my gallery what it looks like. I live in LA, so fog lights aren't really important to me, but I almost got them for aesthetics before my MA told me that it wouldn't make a difference.

Make sure you post pictures of your car when you get it.

I use my rear fog much more than my fronts.

Seems like the front fogs are really more of an aesthetic thing to me. They don't seem to do much better of a job in fog than the low beams in my R53 and are mostly useless when used in tandem w/ them, IMO. Don't know if this is any different w/ the R56.

Thanks for the pictures of your mini with no fog lights. That is what I've been looking to see! It's like they're there, but not functional which is fine by me. I just didn't want there to be some big ugly hole there.

Chicago Mini Club!!! I'll be there... I love Superdawg! I'm actually in Evanston, so I'm on Sheridan all the time And yep, no street parking. I've got a small little brick 1920's garage that will fit a Mini just right (I can barely open the door of my bmw in it).

Should see it in about 10 days or so... Yea!

Lots of owners are kicking themselves for not getting the fogs for asthetic reasons-- blanks in rear and blank switch position in cockpit. Retrofitting is possible but very expensive by the dealer. I would hold off and order. You could rent a cheapie car for the interim. DSC is very desireable to have, just like seatbelts and airbags.

IMO for those of us that like to take our minis to the edge (SAFLEY!) DSC and LSD are a must

very cool! a garaged MINI is a happy MINI (in CHGOland). I should be at the Superdawg run.. unless family calls.

I have DSC... I bought mine used and really didn't know all of the doo-dads on it until after I brought it home and went to a dealer to get a printout of the specs. It's nice to know I have it.. fortunately I haven't had the need to use it.

congrats again on your new MINI
