Anyone have a link for just the JCW springs. I have only seen the full JCW package but not just the springs. I would rather go OEM because my car is leased and won't it won't affect the warranty.

Cheers

I don't think aftermarket springs will conflict with warranty.

Besides the JCW suspension package doesn't really lower the car by that much, it only lowers the car by 10mm which is just silly.

So would you guys recommend buying springs considering you'll be riding on the bumpstops constantly or would it really only be better if you had coilovers?

Took me and two buddies 3.5 hours to install H&R springs, H-sport camber links, & H-sport 25.5mm rsb yesterday.
I was a total rookie, my next-door neighbor is a bus mechanic, and Matt put springs on his R53 on his own once. It wasn't rocket science and a good shop should be able to do it in 3 hours if they know what they're doing...

Here's Arthur's build in my garage:

I found this picture of Peter's car on another forum but at least you get another idea of how they look dropped. One of these days we will have to take the time to take some decent shots

Well, it's hard to describe. I think on the freeway the ride is smoother now, which is good considering I drive about 140 miles a day doing 70-85 mph. Big dips on the freeway hit harder now. Driving around town it's a bit "bumpy", probably due to riding on the bump stops. Dips, pot holes, driveways and other things of this nature are just taken more solidly than before. My wife is going to hate driving it now, which could be good. We'll see how she holds up on the 4 hour drive to Vegas for AMVIV in 2 weeks!
It looks better, though, and let's face it- if a smooth, comfortable ride was top priority, none of us would be driving a MINI!

You are a man of excellant taste, sir. Sorry about the photos of Arthur unbathed...

The lowered R56 feels just a schooch tauter than my R53; the big sway bar is the biggest influence actually. Turn-in is wonderful and there's no more need to compensate for impending understeer.
I'm going to crawl underneath this afternoon and see if it's really riding on the bumpstops or if this is a myth...

If that turns out to be the case we have been able to cut the stops in half with good results.

I still don't have any good pictures of the car yet, but these three are the best of the batch. Please ignore the dirt, cone marks, and unwrapped door handles

Thanks, Randy --------
It's not beating the bumpstops though; or not that I can tell. I had it aligned at a shop that does several of our clubbers' cars, Vettes, Porsches, Ferraris, etc.. They say that it's fit for the track or Walmart.
It really feels great. I hope it stays that way.
And Terry's car does look better in person. I should've taken a picture of it last week out in the sun; I had my camera and everything. And I should've driven it too....

They pretty much don't. In my findings, the reason torque steer is reduced from the ride height lowering is primarily because the suspension roll-center geometry is repositioned and gives greater mechanical grip. This results in less "twitchyness" and a more positive feeling footprint.

The suspensions bumpstops are soft foam; they are an integral part of the suspension travel, which is why you can't tell they're being used

That not a stupid question. Makes no logical sense to me. I've asked it a few times in the Mods forum myself. Answer: Nobody knows. It's just what some people claim they feel after they lower it.

The car feels about 5 times stickier through a set of s's.
I'm going to time my average speed through some well-known mountain roads this weekend... ...nothing heroic, just 6/10's.

This is what I had done as well and my ride is actually smoother now than before lowering.

I have the non-sport suspension as well and that's why I went for the Eibach's. They're the firmest springs available (and therefore should preserve my shocks) yet still offer a nice ride.

Does anybody have major camber problems after they have lowered their Mini? I am just worried after lowering it the camber will get effective causing uneven tire wear.

I used camber links and adjusted. The stock adjusters have very minimal room to move.
I also needed some toe out up front afterward and thrust.

So it looks like camber links are a must when you lower?

Not to pick on you but you are one of many who say "my ride is actually smoother or better now". Honestly I can't believe that. Ride when you're on a smooth road maybe. What happens when you hit a bump, can you honestly say the ride has improved with less suspension travel?

It depends on which springs you use and how much negative camber you are comfortable living with... ...there was alot; like -2.3% or so on the left side. Not as bad on the right. But that was completely without using the stock adjusters, of course.
The camber links from Hotchkiss are pretty neat looking anyhow.

'scuse the splooge on the car:

were those your specs before you installed the camber arms? how long did you wait to install the arms after the springs? if that was the case.
