What upgrade should be next??

Hey guys,

So I have a 2007 MCS with the JCW Engine and suspension package. Was wondering what upgrade should be next as far as trying to squeeze some more power outta her? Any advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Alta turbo back exhaust, The JCW muffler really isn't a performance part, but now that you've got the better mapping a bigger turboback should give you the most bang for the buck.
After that, some lightweight wheels & regular tires

Thanks n1tr0. Is the JCW muffle a cat back? I want to keep the JCW muffler. Maybe I can just do the downpipe to the cat?

the JCW exhaust isn't even a full cat-back, it's more of a resonator-back.
If you want to get more power out of it, you'll pretty much need to ditch it, but you could have the JCW tips attached to the alta muffler for a stealthier look. Alta's is a full 3" system, so choking it down at the muffler would really defeat the point.

you could also go for alta's complete intake silicone hosing and CAI, or make your own. letting the engine breathe in and out easier always helps out with power.

The thing with doing a CAI or cat-back is you end up replacing the JCW parts.

I added the Alta tubes and the intercooler and the car is stupid fast, the engine breathes better and is far more responsive throughout the entire range. The JCW ECU has seemed to adapt to it's new found ability to breath and the engine growls with the addition of the Inlet tubes...couldn't be happier. The JCW exhaust works just fine and has actually blown out a little and is louder than when I got the car....The best part is the dealer has seen and driven the car and has no problems with the additions...

Best bet is

Light weight wheels: 17x7 if you like and

Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R in 205/45-17

Both sticky and light.

You're not adding power, just making better use of all the power you've got.

Totally agreed, my TDs with sticky rubber will be here in two weeks. I really dont want to replace the exhaust I just had put in. I think I am going to start with the inlet and boost tubes...

alta claims around 10whp gains on the inlet tube and boost tube kit. Seems a little much...anyone verify that?

a limited one :-) Just spent 1400 on new wheels and tires. Also just got the JCW engine package. I was budgeting another 500 or so...

I'd just find the lightest/best wheels and tires and leave the warranty-friendly JCW bits alone.
Some lighter seats, rear seat delete, and maybe the M7 front carbon fiber wing thingie would be nice.

For $500 you could do the boost tube/turbo inlet tube upgrade; although it appears to be a little lack-luster in the power adding department, maybe 5 whp or so, from what I've read.

The JCW carbon fiber/alcantara shift **** and e-brake handle w/ boots would be really nice. I'm planning on having those installed before we even pick the car up from the dealer.

OR

You could take that 500 bucks and sign up for a track day in your area . With a bit of added power and stiffer sussy courtesy or JCW plus new wheels and tires, you're ready to go.
