TPMS question

I tried asking this in the wheels forum but haven't received a response yet.

I have some aftermarket wheels that I'm going to be putting on my car when it gets here. Can the wheels be balanced beforehand (without the TPMS sensors) or do I need to wait for the car to arrive. I'm not sure how this works?

Yes, But then when you un-mount the tires to install the TPMS (If your use them) you need to re-balanced once they are re-mounted.

You could buy the TPMS sensors. Maybe the oem wheels would sell easier with the TPMS.

That sounds like a pricey option. It seems that most people that sell the wheels don't include the TPMS. Are all the mini TPMS systems the same? Or are there different ones for the 16 and 17" wheels etc.?

I think they're all the same, made for BMW by Beru. I posted a link to an instruction sheet from Beru in another thread.

I was thinking you'd be ordering a wheel/tire combo from a place like Tirerack. Then you could get the whole package including TPMS at one time. Maybe there's a savings there, I don't know.
