Oh, I think that's pretty pessimistic for the amount of damage shokk has. If he'd had a really bad smush--say $8,000-$10,000 worth of damage, I'd agree, but this is just a little fender bender. No biggie.

On one of our cars, back in the 80's, my son got rearended, and we even grafted another car's derriere onto ours That's extreme, and only works if you have a really good shop, but that car handled just fine...up until the day my son totaled it. (Sob--it was an Audi Quattro--one I really loved.)

Oh I wanted to add that its really easy to be
out $5000 in medical costs.

I have normal work related BC/BS PPO and the
out of pocket is like $3350 or something.

Plus copays.
Plus presciptions.

It's easily $5k+ out of pocket if you have
something big happen, and say for example
need something like physical therapy at
$30 a pop copay.

$5k comes and goes with the blink of an eye.
