Congratulations! Post pics when you can!

I like to save money so getting a special that is on the lot not only does that it also puts you in a great car NOW and that can be important for the "Fun" factor. As for the lights my car does not have the Xenon and my wifes does both have ample lighting for the drive. You will have the ability to second guess yourself after you make your purchase list them out reasons for and reasons not to purchase and then go with your decision. Have fun and post pictures.

I just bought a 2007 mcs loaded and saved $3500 off of comparable 2008. I'm very happy.

Congrats! You probably made out very well with your deal, especially since the optional packages have changed and the net is probably a price boost on the '08s.

I personally love the Xenons, though I wonder how many people have them adjusted too low--really makes a difference. But, as has been said, if you haven't had them before, you won't know the difference. I drove behind halogens for almost 40 years before I started driving with Xenons...

I think you did the right thing. Two weeks ago I, too, took a discounted stock 2007 instead of ordering the "perfect" 08. What I worried about not getting faded very quickly after driving my almost perfect PW MCS. I identified other things I wanted instead that could be more useful. One of them was a Clear Bra. I had it installed today after a 4 rock chips were pointed out. I would highly recommend you look into it ASAP after delivery to protect your new beauty. Here is a link to a motortrend review: http://www.motortrend.com/features/c...401_clear_bra/ Congratulations. I'll bet you'll have trouble getting the goofy grin off your face when you start driving it!!

I haven't stopped smiling since leaving the dealership, and I don't even have the car yet!! My dad and I have already started thinking of mods: new rims, rear spoiler, iPod hook-up (no biggy I'll buy that before delivery), some checkered board stuff for inside and the sunroof graphic, maybe JCW rugs, chrome interior (finally found them aftermarket), and dad's ordering aftermarket xenons (recommended by the dealer) on Monday!!

Huge congrats - sounds like it'll be the perfect MINI after all.

What wheels are you thinking off??? Also curious about the aftermarket xenons. I purchased my MINI with the OEM xenons, but always heard that an aftermarket job was extremely expensive and the install ridiculously complicated. So interested to hear how that goes.

The aftermarket xenons my dad is going to do is just the replacement of the bulb, the dealership told us where to get them and he already has someone to replace them. So it's a basic fix, just changing a bulb.

Get a beater car, drive it into the ground while you are in college. Take the money you would spend on the car over the next few years and make a down payment on a 3 bedroom house near campus. Rent two rooms of the house for approximately what you pay for the mortgage. Apply the money you would spend on rent and car payments to pay off the mortgage early. By the time you are 28 and ready for that dream MINI, you'll own your house outright and can buy the new MINI with a home equity loan that with interest that is tax deductible. You'll set yourself up to own sweet cars for the rest of your life. . . .

Or go ahead and get the 08 with the xenon lights because they are sweet. . . .

They should work just fine for you...More important,if your dad is financing the car there are some great deals from MINI on financing going on till January 2...that should help out considerably...Congrats and enjoy your new car....Truly a happy new year....

We are signing the paper work on Monday, the car will be in my name and my dad is cosigning.

Yucca Patrol - I live so close to the college I can live at home, which is fine with me. I guess the motivation to have a MINI sooner than later is a family thing. My dad's first new car was a MINI. I have been driving around a 2000 Honda Accord for the past few years, not exactly beat up or anything, but I have grown attached to it and am actually sad to give it tomorrow.

I'd order the new one. it will be worth more money in the long run plus it will be the one you want.

The down side is the fact of being a college student, you will get door dings and possibly get broken into, for that reason i would really careful about where you park it and leave it.

i'd take the bus for 6 weeks, wait

OFFICIAL MINI OWNER!!!

I guess it's a good thing, that the campus I am at right now has huge parking spots and really thourough security patrollin the parking at all times, about 4 of them per parking lot, and the city police are patrolling as well. Thank goodness my classes next semester are all in the building which has the biggest parking spots!! I'd rather have a big parking spot and walk across capmus to class, than face the possibility of my car being dinged
