My appologies for barking. I do however feel the need to defend the good nature of one (of many) very satisfied customers as well as the product and industry in general.

I don't think she deserved the tone of the previous message. Perhaps I read it too literally. A simple "not for me" would have sufficed.

If you'd like to open up discussion on the values (or lack of) the BBK in the proper forum I'm more than happy to debate pros and cons. I'm certain there are other suppliers and consumers who will be more than happy to join in as always. For now, let's move on and leave a happy customer happy.

Thanks for all the compliments from the positive folks

I actually have tint on all the windows (except the windshield of course). I have 20% on all the windows so it's actually pretty dark. Those photos were taken after I had finished washing the car and it had gotten much later in the day than I thought it was so it was close to sunset when I finally got around to snapping the pictures. I'll take a few new photos soon!

If you decide to upgrade your brakes and want orange calipers, I say go for it! I definitely don't mind another Mini owner out there with orange calipers!

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I'm sure there are others out there who agree with you as well as those that disagree. I'm sure there are people that hate the orange calipers as well as people who really like them. That's what's so great about Minis - they are so highly personalizable! There are just a few things you wrote that I feel I need to address.

I personally don't have a problem with the way the caliper looks compared to the rotors. Now I am definitely NO expert on brakes, calipers, rotors, etc. and only know what little I've learned in a very short period of time. However, as I've mentioned both in my original post on on my "Mini Story" link, the BBK upgrade was primarily for aesthetic reasons since I don't race at all. I just always loved the look of specialized calipers with the drilled and slotted rotors. I thought it would look good with my wheel style too. Of course an increase in performance for MY purposes is just an added bonus.

With the MINI being so light from the get go, I doubt that your upgrade has added any performance braking capability. With 11.6 inch disks up front, and 10.2 inch disks in the rear, the stock system has ample stopping power for a 2700lb car. With those huge rotors, you're only inviting the ABS system to activate sooner than normal. You may have even added weight with those large rotors... and increased your stopping distances.

IMO, if you wanted better stopping ability, a fluid chage to ATE SuperBlue or Motul 600 combined with a different pad and stickier tire would do the trick. Honestly I have no idea if there are pad choices for our MINI's... but that would be the way to go. Fade (if any) would be reduced while on track. For every day street driving... no rotor and caliper upgrade is needed.
Several people asked me how the BBK kit FELT compared to the stock brake system and based on MY experiences driving the car with the stock brakes vs. the car with the Wilwood kit, I am confident in saying that to both of US (me and my husband), there is a very obvious different feeling in how much more responsive the new brake system is compared to the stock brakes.

This assessment is based on personal experience and opinion in comparison between the two different brake systems. I don't have any numbers for you because I don't race and really don't have any interest in racing my car.

I never said that the stock system didn't have ample stopping power for the Mini nor did I say I wanted or needed better stopping power. However, based on the fact that I've personally driven both the "before" and the "after" versions, I feel that the new brakes DO add performance.

*BUT* - All that matters is that you're happy with your choice! Enjoy your MINI! It is a head turner and attention getter for sure!
So do I think I "wasted $2k on decorations" for my Mini? No. I don't think so at all and like you mentioned, when it all comes down to it, all that matters is that I'm happy with it...which I am...very much so, thank you

Thanks Todd! I appreciate it! And I am a very happy customer with my new setup. Thanks again for your help and the caliper color came out perfectly too!

Just wanted to give a thumbs-up on your color choices. To me, your car now has a "Gulf Oil" vibe, the colors recall the Gulf-Oil GT40's and 917's from the 60's without being over-the-top like the Mini I've seen done in the EXACT gulf oil color scheme.

I like it.
