R56 The Great Impasse--Buy Now or Later
Thanks for all the input from everyone.
After weighing the pros and cons, I decided to place the order for a 2007. While the idea of getting it sooner certainly weighed heavy on my mind, I also considered the financials heavily. Since I am not making a car payment today, I would certainly have more funds for a downpayment on a 2008, but given that the inevitable price increase would be anywhere from $500 to $1500 (probably on the higher side given the options I ordered), it would be a wash.
Then I considered the resale value. I could get a less expensive 2007 that would not be as valuable as a 2008. However, when I compared values between older MINI's (for example a 2004 versus a 2005) with the same or similar miles and features, the value difference was nominal. Ultimately, it just didn't seem to make sense to wait for an '08--but ask me that after the '08's come out or when I try to sell it down the road.
