As soon as I hear from them I will post the results.
Chuck, did you call South Bay or Long Beach? They both sell at MSRP. Why don't you see how long their wait is?

If you're looking to cut the price a bit, you could easily cut about $8k out of that and still have a well-optioned MINI.

Well, the dealer agreed to MSRP and even threw in floor mats as a gift. I'll drop off the deposit on Thurdsay.

I agree... but we'll keep this Mini for many years and I'll never have to say, "I wish I had of gotten....." I may say, "I really didn't need...." Either way, we'll (she'll) enjoy it.

I'm right there with ya in the 38k club and I don't regret it.

I have the chrome line interior, and the reflections (sun / window) don't really bother me. What it DOES do is give an otherwise pretty plastic-looking interior a touch of class.

Wow! 38 grand and I don't even see the letters JCW.

My only suggestion is to do a lot of research on the armrest and bluetooth before you order them.

And I love the iPod adapter, especially with the nav system. No iPod?

No kidding. Dealerships live for buyers like this. How does the MA keep a straight face while writing up the sale?

There's no need to mock. Just because you don't agree with their list of options doesn't mean you should berate their choices.

No worries, I don't take these comments personally.

Every dealer in SoCal charges a markup with the exception of Long Beach (And occasionally South Bay/Universal City/Assael). Bob Smith actually used to be 5k, they lowered it. Their service department is horrible. I wouldn't let those monkey's near my car.

I bought my R53 at Universal City MINI for sticker. They wouldn't even throw in floor mats. I haven't been back since.

Dealers traditionally do the minimum required service to get the car past the warranty period. I want my car to last, so I don't mind spending the extra couple hundred dollars a year to have someone who knows what they're doing work on my car.

I bought from SouthBay, MSRP, floor mats in as well. I was not very happy with their service dept. but the sales are top notch. I bought from a very cool person (2005 MC) named Freddie, who left but is back doing corporate or fleet or something? He rocks. Right now I have been pricing a new R56 MCS, but so far only doing the numbers....

Let's see $3000 profit for the dealer and you get floor mats. Wow! What a deal?????

I was gonna suggest Mini of Universal City. They did throw-in the floormats on mine, but could be the pretty wife being there got me some brownie points! Mine was about $35k out the door... no markup.

I took the configuration to the local Mini dealer who always starts at $3000 over MSRP. I was able to show them that they had nearly $3400 profit in the car at MSRP. I also pointed out that I could drive an hour and order it for MSRP at another Mini dealer. This one is 10 minutes from my house though so I would rather buy it there. So, we’ll see. The sales manager was off today and will be back in tomorrow.

Tax and license is another $3209; gets me out the door at $38,554.00

I got a quote from SouthBay at MSRP, and almost went with them due to a short wait list. I went with MINI of Mt. View (NorCal) because they're closer to home.

My MINI's price was also large, but it's a sweet car. I esp. love the HID + driving lights. Great for driving on twisty mountain roads.

So, no $1500 services; no 10 qts of oil per oil change; cheaper insurance rates..... oh, punish me

I'm not sure any dealership has been MSRP the whole time since "the beginning". I tried to look at southbays website to see when they started up, didn't see a date that they opened so I just looked at the "our people" part.

grr.. one of the motoring advisors stealing my handle:

Amanda "Motormouth" White !!!

I should have trademarked/copywrited/somethinged my name.
