We are lucky that MINI does not charge us according to the exchange rate.

A coopers BASE price is 13k pounds. The S is 16k pounds. Now imagine if we paid the same price using a 2.1 exchange rate....
oops... caught my mistake.
thanks mate!

Indeed! The base price hike alone will pay for the cost of the iPod adapter fully installed.

True, but generally a price hike for the new model year is associated with new goodies and other upgrades. In this case, the hike comes with none of that (with exception of maybe the USB port) since the late build 2007's already received all of the 2008 options/changes.

if you load the current MINI USA price, configure a mini and add the 5% echange to US, and the 6% import fee in Canada for NON US cars then you see the price is only ~1k more. I paid 33K cnd and the us was 31500K when converted.

Perhaps I have missed some posts, but only ones to receive any of the 2008 upgrades were not imported to the US as of yet, except one post I remember for the new door sill plates.

Configured our '07 today and there was a $700 price increase. The only thing different was the heated/folding mirrors. Increases in the cold weather package, chrome exterior, punch leather, and base price. That's about a 2.5% price increase. Less than inflation or the change in exchange rate.

Also, in regards to the British prices. Were those with or without VAT? BTW, what is VAT as a percentage in the UK anyway?

AFAIK, the late build 07's are already getting everything the 08's are getting except for the USB port. Remember/Note that the regenerative braking and auto stop/start features aren't coming to the U.S. (even for the 08 models).

Here's what I've seen confirmed so far:

1) digital speed display for the cruise control (in the OBC)

2) New door sills (as you mentioned)

3) new "direct" tire pressure monitoring system

4) Auto-up windows (not 100% sure on this one)

5) New chime/bong sound

I'm sure that there are others I've overlooked/missed as well.

Basically, besides the USB port, there's isn't anything really significant coming to the U.S. bound 08 cars that makes them any different form the 07's.

We were hoping that the USB port was going to arrive in the U.S. 07 cars (especially since the hole/cut out for the port is there and the owner's manual references it), but so far this has not shown to be true.

just logged onto miniusa and pulled up a Cooper base is stated at $18,050 with $650 dest and handling = however the bottom price is $18,950 = a $250 difference????????????

I just configured mine = Pepper White - Cooper
rear fog, sport seats, chrome line interior, auto a/c, anthracite headliner, brushed alloy inter. surf., sport leather/MF wheel..

pretty low optioned Mini - My build price on 8/31 was $20,450 today it is $20,950 = for an increase of $500 - I can only imagine the difference in a heavly optioned Mini = Ouch... Gee, Mini thanks for the warning.....

There is no auto up in the middle/late August builds and I didn't get the USB with the bluetooth, in fact I don't even think I have the cutout.

So glad I ordered when I did!

I just checked my configuration (which I placed the order for only 2 weeks ago!) and it came out an extra $950! I think I'm getting a real good deal by getting an almost 2008 MINI for the price of 2007.

And to think I was considering waiting until late Sept/early Oct to order the 2007, based on what the MA was telling me earlier....

Same here. Mine would have been $500 more (including folding mirrors). I had originally planned to order this Sat but my daughter asked me to order earlier (9/2) so she could go with me before leaving for college. I guess I owe her (maybe I won't feel this way when I get the first bill for her school loan ).

The web site just changed the pirces today, so until you talk to an MA you can't be sure. It is all specualtion here for now.
Will be interesting for new owners taking delivery in the next few days and ones that have cars in transit.

Why? I think we are covered by the price quoted on our build sheet, no?

I used my saved configuration from 5 weeks ago when I bought and the configurator automatically added $500 to the price.

I think so. I placed an order just 7 days ago and got the 07 pricing. I have a build sheet with the agreed to price. I think if your order is in and you signed the papers you are good. At least we better be, or my MA is going to hear it from me.

My build would go up another 800 bucks.

Sorry my bad..........point being till some one orders a Mini no one knows when the price increase will take effect. It would only seem logical that the price increase would only be for the 08 models and would not effect the 07, but what do I know.

Same, I'm picking up this Saturday so we'll see. But given that I signed on the dotted line to pay the price before today's increase (MSRP is $700 more with it), my MA better not even try anything...

We are all assuming these are 08 prices - where are we reading that??? could just be an increase with more to follow??? All I know is I have an email from my MA on 8/31 with my price on it and I paid my deposit on That price - I am really not concerned that their will be the ole "Bait and switch".. but like stated "What the hell do I know"

Now for the people that decide to order today insead of yesterday - I think they are screwed...... Oh, well, this samething happend about one year ago today - I would bet - Tarkun - there is some homework for ya

Since we do not know exactly when the cut off date is for production of the 07 models, and just because someone noticed some price changes on the web site, one should not assume that Mini is going to charge the new prices on the remaining 07 models. If that was the case then why would one buy an 07 just to have a car sooner than waiting for an 08 for the same price and being assured of having "all" of the new equipment/gadgets.
Till people order and are charged the new price, to me , this is all just speculation.

Very much true. If I can remember, I'll be sure to ask my MA on Saturday if they're charging these new prices as of yet. I would expect so for ones being ordered at least, as what they do there is pull up the MINI USA site, configure the MINI to your liking, print out that sheet, then put the exact price from it onto the buyer's contract.

I thought car manufacturers generally raise their prices every year(?) Perhaps some more than others, but as a general rule, isn't that pretty much expected?
