I was just commenting that I haven't seen any of the Z4 Coupes on the road. I wonder where they're hiding.

I thought the same thing when I first saw the pics, but then I did some digging.
I belive the coupes are all M's, so they are very expensive.
The look of the 135 coupe does not appeal to me. However, I for a few years recently, I was back in my home land of Germany. I had a 135 hatchback with a turbo charged diesel engine. This auto would fly!! It was solid as a rock, accelerated very fast, held high speeds easily, had great brakes, and was very solid. I liked the storage capacilty, too. Of course, it had a manual transmission.
When I returned to California, I bought a new 2006 MINI S. The MINI is an impressive auto, but the stock 135 that I had was much faster, more stable, completely quite by comparision (MINI ride is noisy), and felt even more stable. The 135 feels like a larger auto than the MINI, but not too large. I do appreciate the MINI size and the 135 hatchback was not too large.
I am sure that everyone that test drives a 135 will like it very much. Unfortunately, there will be some buyers that buy them for status rather than for truly driving them. They are a good example of a driving machine. If they really do show up in the US, I will consider getting one. If they come here with the turbo diesel, then it will be almost certain that I will get one.

The BMW 1 series....OR MINI R56
Being stationed in Germany I have driven almost every car (european) available with exception to exotics. A 300 hp 1 series will be stupid fast, which is great, but needless in America. It will be governed too. The biggest problem I can honestly tell you is Vision out the back is as crappy if not worse than a convertible Mini with the top up. If you look behind you to back up you cant really see anything. If you want a fast car buy a 335I. I was not impressed at all with the 1 series I believe they are way over priced. Also the front windows are very small, if you are a bigger guy, if you look to the left you will be starring at the top of the door seal. Im 6ft tall and I have to slouch down to look out the car, stupid. Also my arm barely fits on the top of the open window jam for cruisin, feels like a coffin with an engine.Buy a mini.
As for the 135. I've been seeing pictures and hearing about it and I'm liking it. I'd consider it an upgrade and i'd get it over a 330. If it costs around 37k I'll trade the mini for it next year. At 40K it's too much. If i had a Z4 i'd trade it right away for a 135 even if it cost 40K.
Yeah alright the Z4 is still OK. It will be another year until I am completely sick of it's design. You picked the right one for yourself...much cooler.

. Definetly am going to be checking out the 135i when it shows up, but better be cheaper than 40k. You can get a 335i for that now.
Sounds like you never driven one. It will spank an MCS. If that's girly, girls should be proud.
335s are 300 HP.
Yeah, for 41k you can have a 335 with more than 500HP!
hahah yah right. 2 Door sports car with impressive engine and agressive body styling....versus 2-door economy car with cute bubbly features, a small 1.6L engine, and round headlights. MINI wins out on the girly scale.
Actually my Mini is not that far behind her car, its a heavy car. And your right, the 335i has 300hp.
Sorry but this is one of the most aggressive looking cars in production currently.
Off topic: Sat in a z4 coupe while my mini was in for service......most comforable sport steering wheel i have ever felt. Wow.
The MCS is SCCA Solo 2 G-stock. The Z4 3.0 is A-stock. The MCS is a good front-driver, but the Z4 is a whole 'nother league.
I'm just sayin what I have done, punching it on the freeway, we own both, hers 03 Z4 3.0i, mine modded Mini S, have know idea on a track.
Girly
This is a nice car, I was going to buy a Z4, BUT they didnt offer this Hard top at the time. THE Z4 convert IS a total girl car, the Miata is tied with it followed by a NON S coop! I have extensively driven one of the convertibles thanxs to Enterprise rent a car of Germany, the base 6 is nothing exceptional it does have a grin factor about it. A MINI with a few mods will beat it any day. In fact my MINI tops out faster on the AutoBahn than the BMW Z4 non M, and the 325's built for America. There is lots here, military members buy then like a 25 cent candy bars here.
Just wait till you see the 1 series, it is ugly
2009 BMW 1-Series Prices .They're far from settled yet, but BMW will try to match or undercut premium-compact rivals while minimizing overlap with the lower end of the 3-Series line. We predict something like $27,000 for a no-frills 130i coupe and around $35,000 for a loaded convertible.

I still see Z3 coupes regularly.
