Seventh...

This is interesting news alright. The fact is, I personally talked to her in addition to my dealer... just because I could not believe that they were getting absolutely no response from her. I mean, I could believe it... but I wasnt going to leave it entirely open. She actually called me back... and was friendly for a moment... but as soon as she caught wind of who I was and the deal that she had made... she went sour on me. She got real short with me and said that she didnt have the paperwork in front of her and didnt know anything and that my rep would be called back on Monday. Of course, no call was made on Monday or Tuesday the following week even after repeated attempts by my dealer and manager.

I'm pretty sure they wouldnt have strung me around and made themselves look stupid for no reason. Hey, they lost the sale. They're pretty pissed too. They gave up a production slot for this trade... and no car.

Also, this very car is still not sold. So explain all that. I would have had no reason at all to be mad if the car wasnt sold to anyone. Its not my problem that she doesnt want to give it up without a deposit on the car... and it has nothing to do with the fact that I am now without wheels altogether because I sold my car in anticipation of this one.

That's just bad business and real bad karma.... and I think people should know what really happened. Crap... I'm that same guy that gives 5's out to dealers who give me good service because I want to maintain a long positive relationship (that's another thread).

My purchasing experience at Momentum was excellent. The financing went well too. The only hiccup I had was with the trade-in and on a recommendation I took it down to CarMax and got what I thought it was worth.

This smacks of he said, she said. From what I've been able to gather from reading these posts, you may have misplaced your anger. It's up to the dealer you are working with to make sure the trade is going to go through before they tell you it's a done deal. It seems they failed this time.

The fact that they told you which dealer they were trying to trade with and had you call them makes me think they aren't real good at what they do. If I was working at that dealership and customer of another dealer called me and asked to participate in a car trade, I'd pretty much turn it down...especially if I've already told the dealer you were working with the car may not be available.

It looks like your dealer was blowing a bit of smoke telling you he had a deal, when the other dealer is saying he didn't have a deal.

Not sure who to believe really, but this just doesn't sound right in the way your dealer conducting themselves.

good luck

I hear you. I hear you. While this may be a little blown out of proportion... I was just looking for an apology for lack of professionalism and additionally if anyone else had a similar experience. Generally karma usually takes care of itself.

The only bad business I can see is your dealer promised you a car that was not theirs and was never promised to them. I am sorry they so misinformed you that you sold your car in anticipation of a car which was not theirs to give. The fault of the situation rests solely with your dealer and their communications to you. If I were you I would ask them for a loaner car until your MINI arrives.

The fact is that car was never available to trade. Even if you were a customer at Momentum (instead of another dealer 1000+ miles away) we could not have sold you that car because it is reserved for another customer.

Follow up calls were made to the manager at your dealership stating the status of the car both last week and early this week. If your dealer chose not to reveal the content or existence of those calls to you it was their choice. However, holding Momentum accountable for the actions of your MA and dealer is, in my opinion, fundamentally unfair.

Boy! The squeaky wheel certainly does get the oil now doesn't it. Looks like we've got a customer with a complaint and a dealership that's willing to dispute/address the issue openly. A great combo indeed.

I hope it gets resolved so that both parties are happy with the outcome.

Good luck...

You can see some shots of her MINI'S aero kit and R90s. Not a very inconspicuous car to use in robberies, is it?
And people think I'm nuts for getting LoJack on my MINI! I guarantee you they wouldn't have needed a sting operation and it wouldn't have taken several days to catch the b**tards! Average time for recovery in Houston is LESS THAN ONE HOUR!

Sucks that she had all that stress on her, but especially if you're a manager in a service-related industry, that's no excuse for being rude and nasty. Sounds like she needs to refine her people skills.

MoTW all the way.

When it comes to making a large purchase, I will always be the individual to describe to fellow consumers what my experience was like and the quality of the product. Working as a Sales and Marketing Manager myself, I feel that customer service can be a tightening noose for any corp. if handled improperly. At Momentum the WHOLE transaction was nothing less than excellent. With my MA I never felt like another number or price tag.

I for one can't give you my opinion of others experiences because it didnt happen to me. It really is a he said she said bit. Although if that instance did occur, then im sorry to hear that and no one should be treated poorly. If this was the case for my transaction, you bet your a** that I would explain my situation and why I felt this way. I will also report back on the experience if/when I have a repair/maintenance to make.

Saying that Momentum is a poor choice because of a disgruntled individual, is equivilent to saying that because of a faulty part or problem with your car, you shouldnt buy a MINI. Hey, if your not satisfied with a MA then choose another one, he/she is not the only one at that dealership.

When I was deciding on what MINI and which options to choose from I visited both Momentum and The Woodlands. I really had more of a personable experience at Momentum and Seventh was my MA. I never ran into any complications as others have spoke of, including the transaction with financial services. I WOULD and HAVE recommended going to Momentum and to talk to my MA specifically if your in the market for a vehicle. I cant say that this will be the case for everyone, but speaking from my own personal experience, my MINI was in my possession in less than a month from order to pickup. When I get a call and the MINI survey is on the other end, I will give Seventh (Lee) a 5 for a smooth and enjoyable purchase. Not only did he deal with all of my calling, but he made it as easy as possible for my girlfriend and myself. Big plus in my book. Very professional.

OK OK OK... this is getting blown out of proportion.

I have had no prior experience with Seventh and since he was adult enough to post here, there is no doubt that he cares about his company and his value to the Mini experience. My complaint was with the Sales Manager and failure after multiple attempts over a 10 day period at finishing a deal that was IN progress. This had nothing to do with Seventh.

Additionally, you cannot blame the company I was working with that was making the trade with Momentum. I am aware of how dealer trades work... and there is a grey area there where each dealer makes a gentleman's agreement. This is where the breakdown happened and at which time I decided to take action so I could know if I was going to wait any longer or move on. I believe my MA is also aware of this thread and may reply with his own... but I think this horse is well dead.

My point was made... and I guess I could have carefully written a scornful letter to BMW/MINI and/or the owner... but then none of you would know about it. I think the dealer trade system is an excellent idea when it works.

Ok.. so lets all take a breather and move on.

My MA tells me that they wheel and deal all the time, no-one wants verts in the NorthEast in winter, and it seems to work out. In saying that maybe it's just time to order a MINI and cut your losses on the trade market. At least that way you get exactly what you want.

Another reason to make the drive to Mini of the Woodlands vs. Momentum Mini

Just found another reason why Mini of the Woodlands out does Momentum Mini hands down.
I am unfortunatly replacing my PS pump due to after warranty(56Kmiles) failure. Because Momentum Mini is 20 mins from me, I called their parts department for the new PS pump,

Momentum Mini cost of $567
Mini of the Woodlands cost of $427.

Case and point, easy as that.

Maybe I should be calling a bunch of different Mini dealerships to check prices and see if I can same another 50 bucks or so... lol :impatient

Momentum SUCKS #ss

We went there for a test drive. Sat in the lobby for 30 minutes after talking to a sales person we had to ask for. He did not introduce himself. After sitting for that amount of time I walked outside and he was going on a test drive with someone who had just arrived.

I emailed the dealership and NEVER got a response. For this type of money take your business to Aka in the woodlands. You will not be dissapointed.

I have a car on order with Seventh (came recommended by another member of NAM) and until now the experience was great. We'll see when the car arrives in 2 weeks

My experience w/ Momemtum has been great so far; from the sale side as well as their service dept.
