R56 Consumer Reports remarks on the R56
Consumer Reports remarks on the R56
Just read the Oct 07 issue of CR comparing the R56 with the Mazdaspeed Grand Touring and the Saturn Sky Redline. They found the R56 great fun but difficult to live with.
They missed the boat again.

I hate to break it to you guys, but for the average car buyer the MCS is too small and too impractical. It has a tiny luggage compartment and you have to be an amputee to sit in the rear seats. There is a reason it doesn't sell in high volumes such as the Civic or Corolla: it does not appeal to the masses. IMO that's a good thing.

I think the Sky RL is a great car, but in the end, just too completely useless (the gas tank is IN the trunk, so there IS no storage space).
It take a Mini lover to love the Mini - be thankful Not everyone likes them - this makes us special.... I am not ordering one to carry anyone in the bac seat - I could NOT care less if anyone other than the wife rides -

Thats funny because about six months ago somebody posted an article where CR praised the MINI and the people responded how wonderful
If a magazine praises the MINI, all is wonderful
If a magazine says something bad about a MINI ... "they don't get it"
Too funny.

Here's CR's final comments: "The Cooper S was great fun , but we found it difficult to live with(and the previous generation didn't have so much torque steer). The Mazdaspeed3 proved extremely quick, fun to drive, and easy to live with every day. That not only makes it a winner in our book; it's our new top-rated sporty car."
This article is classic CR Bravo Sierra-IMO.

I used to own a Saturn once. I have to say that it did take up a lot less space on the driveway than a MINI but that's mostly 'cause it spent the majority of it's time at the mechanic. So yes a MINI is a lot more difficult to put up with. Have to actually have a place to park it. In addition it's not as safe since people can't hear me coming from a mile away.
Hmm, now thats two magazines agreeing with each other. Is it a trend? Could it be the Mazda really is a better car?
Yeah, they probably had the lady who tests laundry detergent and washing machines drive it to Costco and back with buckets of laundery detergent give a full report. Hence, the "hard to live with" comment.
CR are so biased they aren't funny anymore. They don't even test out the entire spectrum of brands (i.e. washing machines, lawnmowers, etc), so how can they be taken seriously?:impatient
Realistically, what car compares to the MINI? None.
Thank you and goodnight!

Funny thing, C&D basically said the same thing http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...d-touring.html

Maybe I'm willing to sacrifice a little of the "total package" for all of the strong and unique positives of the MINI.
