Well, it finally happened. I street park my car, and I noticed 3 deep straches on my rear bumper, more like full-thickness punctures. I have always made fun of Bumper-Badgers (I even saw someone paint one silver to match his/her silver BMW coupe), and I still don't want one.

Any recommendations on DIY fixes?

 

If you've punctured plastic, it's not exactly a DIY job unless you have body shop experience.

I've used a local company (Dents Undone) that has done paint-less body repair for great prices. They polished and buffed out my S70R when the 2-year-old scratched EVERY panel with a rock... $130. Pushed out two door dings on another car... $50. They'll do touch-up stuff, too... followed by buffing, but I haven't had to get that done.

Maybe there's someone in your are that could do somthing similar? Or find a local body shop that'll do a cash job and negotiate a bit? A little filler, an hour of sanding, paint and buffing to blend in... I'd bet you could easily find a quality shop that'll do it in the $250 range.

 

I've done this before - you need a special body compound that is formulated to adhere to the plastic bumper, and it remains flexible so it does not chip off. Its hard to find in any auto supply - I ended up borrowing materials from a friend with a body shop.
