Good bump.
The ticking noise shouldn't be a concern. As for the engine ruckus at start-up when cold outside ... that should be a concern. It'd be interesting to see how this problem potentially increases now that winter is coming.

Does the ticking noise sound like it's coming from the drivers door or vicinity? I am taking mine in to get that sound looked at, but if it's just the engine ticking, then I won't bother.
It is only noticeable in the cold and sounds like a plastic on metal sound. Sorry to somewhat hijack the thread.

Do newer 07s have the engine ticking sound anymore? I have an 07 that i received in late april and mine has the ticking sound (i actually love the sound), but i have not heard people complaining about the ticking noise recently. has BMW made a change in something? is the sound still there? people with recent deliveries please post.

If the MCs have direct injection, they will have the ticking, and I would assume that they all have direct injection, but may be wrong.
I thought it was valve noise till I was clued into the direct injection design.
