I don't trust car manufacturers or lube shops. The first wants to sell you a car, then parts to fix it and then... a new car - it is not in their best interests to tell you how to look after a car so it will last 25 years and a million miles, only until you start paying for it at the end of the warranty. The second wants to sell you oil changes and lots of 'em.

Somewhere in between is where the truth lies, so I pretty much always split the difference... to break in, drive like you normally would, just don't redline it too often or for too long and don't lug it.
