R56 Are you loving your 07?
See skuzzy's post. Some days I notice the great ride and accelleration. Some days I notice that the seatbelt is a pain to reach, that the auto-on setting for the headlights is too sensitive. Some days the "HIFI" sounds great and sometimes it stinks.......

Actually, Deb, now I'm seriously offended! I never "blasted" the R56. I drove it for a month (before almost anyone in the club) and gave my unbiased opinion about it. I pointed out both the good and the bad. I'm not going to sugar-coat anything because that would be unfair to both cars and to anyone who was looking at purchasing one.
Also, I drive an R50...always have (as previously stated). If you're going to start going off on people who are comparing cars, you should know what you're talking about first.
As for Simon, you have fallen straight into one of his little traps....getting a rise out of someone. Good job.
Deb, I have always been nice, accomodating and fair to you and everyone else. I would expect the same from you and my other club members. I find it horrible that you have come on to NAM to blast us behind our backs. I also know the conversation you had with Simon and you have left alot out of your little recap here. I would have hoped that same fairness would have been shown of you. Even if you had a problem with Simon's shirt, you could have come to me about it.

He did when he was drinking. Search for the *****-izon thread. It has nothing to do with the R56 and it may bring you and Jinky closer.
Now that he's sober the quality of his posting has taken a nose dive. We're working on him so please be patient with us and check back in a week or so.

You all gotta change the thread name...
to "offensive T-Shirt and overly sensitive car owners, yea or nea?" because this has descended into an adolescent pissing contest instead of the original topic...... Oh well, I'll check back later and see if anything worth reading has been posted....

The facts would be that I wear t-shirts that I find amusing. Whether they be about single moms, Boobies, Minis or whatever. Deb never had a problem with any of the shirts in the last year or so that I have known her. The fact now she has a problem b/c one of them references an R56 I find quite amusing!
Since 95% of our business is BMW M cars the MINI is only a small portion. Due to this fact I have done nothing but help this Mini club in getting better prices on parts and service and fixing problems when the dealership could not! My phone is always on and I always respond to e-mails etc. To top it off we also saved her daughter a boat load of money on fixing her Mini and telling her how to get the dealership to fix other issues under warranty. All I do is help Mini owners fix problems and at the cheapest method even if I have to do the work in my own driveway!
Again, I see nothing judgmental in Debs post. All she said was she was disappointed to see somebody at the club wearing a shirt such as yours.
I have been a member of NAM since Jan 06. I havent made many posts b/c I have used NAM as a learning tool. For the most part I havent contributed b/c there have been plenty of others that have said it far better than I could! Local club participation has been at the forefront for me b/c my wife loved the Mini so much and she was Secretary of the local club with Deb's daughter (VP) for the last 2 years. From R50 to R56 I really do not care what you drive! I prefer the R53 to all the others including my wifes R50. I didnt like the R56 loaner I had but that is my opinion! I don't like Scions either! Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I do not like being brought up as a R56 hater b/c I wear a t-shirt that only 1 person out of 50 didnt like!
Here are two possible ways to deal. You say, I'm sorry, it was just a joke, I was not out to offend anybody, not R56 owners, not retarded people or their families.
Or you can say, eat crow, I can think what I want, wear what I want, and if you don't like it, its your problem. Learn how to take a joke, and get off your moral tower.
The problem we are having around here is that there are a few people who strictly adhere to the second approach, and frankly it has spent all my good will and see no reason to accommodate their bad manners. So if you sense a growing amount of push-back from the R56 community you may as well get used to it because we are not going away, and we are not going to tolerate being deliberately provoked, teased, played with for other's amusement. Take a lesson from kindergarten and learn some manners.
You're welcome, don't forget to capitalize.
Lynn didn't mean anything by his comments and we definately don't want you becoming a post *****.
As we've discussed in the past, quantity does not make up for quality - that's just a misconception spread by those of us who are better endowed.
Wow!
don't forget tha names are also capitalized!

We don't know that she did not have a problem with them. Perhaps she is polite enough and tolerant enough to not mention it previously.
No doubt you have done many great things for your Mini community. The question Deb raised, and msh441 raised further down was would a vendor that sends the message that he does not like the R56 be willing to serve R56 customers? Would R56 owners be willing to go to them? If you are not a vendor, oh well, no skin off your nose. Still a good question though. I've not seen a vendor here that has not embraced the R56. I think they more so than most are among the Holy Crap, this car Rocks! camp.

Nobody has brought you up as an R56 hater but yourself. You wore the shirt that could insult R56 owners, a shirt that uses one persons disability to make fun of another persons preference in a car. Even if its a 1 in 50 chance of offending somebody thats your choice to make, and you have to live with the out come. To me it sounds like you are whining because everybody was not willing to swallow what you wanted to wear on your sleeve. So deal with it.

And then you have the nerve to posture that you are being blasted behind your back, that you are being defamed, with all the smack you are talking over at MiniNuts message board?
I'm with you on that, Matt. All this stuff is really getting irritating and reminds me of when the new MINI came out with the classic owners. Who cares? Any MINI/Mini is better than none at all. You guys really need to LIGHTEN UP (LAVA, you need to the most)!
There are good points and bad points to all the cars. People have their own preferrences. Deal with it.
I just felt the need to post because someone I called a friend bashed me behind my back. Yeah, I shouldn't have posted and should have just PM'd her instead, but I felt the need to defend myself and my husband.
Someone lock this "stuff" or delete it.

This was a great thread. I hope the mods would trim out the MiniNuts bs rather than closing it.
I'm dealing with other peoples preferences just fine. In fact I've never worn a tshirt making fun of other peoples preferences. And I still see no bash to you, unless disappointment constitutes a bash.

You know I can not even believe the duplicity of this while you are over at the MiniNuts forum carrying on making fun of Deb, and posting messages like:
She is such a whiny Motard PITA! **** HER!

I've PM'd you with a suggestion. It's time you and Greg buried the hatchet.
You should not let a disagreement over an ugly car get in the way of this. Put your pride aside Jerry and offer the, um, "Branch of Peace".
Use Ambassador PE if need be. I counsel that you do this immediately.

Would it be better if I made 30, or more of them a day? Would quantity make up for quality?
