Very sad day indeed

I was told by my MA I had a few more days to make changes to my MCS, sparkling silver, DSC, center armrest, english oak interior, dealer installed racing stripes, etc. The start of production was early June. So I decided to add the audio and sirius package and today I found out the good and bad news. The good news is that my production slot went up (don't no why) and the bad news is that I could no longer add to my car. This is possibly a deal breaker. This is the question:

#1 Go with whats ordered and spend $150.00 at Best Buy and have them install a sportsmate, etc. and for now live with the stock audio system.

#2 Reorder today and be pushed back another month or so. Don't no the answer to this exact time frame.

#3 Start over and go to another dealership, maybe find something in stock. The problem here is that there will be no sirius and very few MCS autos are in the stock that are under 30K.

And #4 Wait and order a 2008. This is a 3rd car and will be driving a honda accord as well that is paid for. What do you think. At this point, I am leaning towards just getting what I ordered because at that time, I didn't even want to spend another $1,400 for the audio upgrade. It wasn't really on my radar.

Thanks everyone for letting me vent. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome as always. :impatient

Definitely wait for an 08 because then you can get those whizbang new technology widget like auto start

Seriously, and not facetiously ... I would just consider one thing.

At this point in time, your getting a late 07 car. In 3 months, no matter what anyone says, the car is already a year old. That will be reflecting in all the following years. A year from now, you might think your car is only one year old but in terms of resale, its two years old.

I have bought same year cars late and it ALWAYS hurts on resale (and yes I know all about MINIs great resale value but it doesnt change the facts).

Just something to consider if your only talking about wait through the summer.

I too would wait for the '08. There are some "things" going on with the '07 and they have some fixes on the '08.

Chows4us has a very valid point. That said, I'd probably go ahead unless the 2008 release date is only 3 mo away. Has your ma told you when they're talking orders for the '08? Realistically, I think the least wait for a 2008 to your specs is 5-6 mo. Only you can decide if it's a worthwhile wait.

I'm thinking you win either way.

Hard to say about resale down the road for a car that's release date was essentially March, 2007.

I though it was Jan/Feb? whatever. It doesn't matter, its still an 08 car. Other car makers do the exact same thing and it simply will not matter ... especially 3/4 years down the road. Nobody (in general) is going to remember the launch date (the masses) and a used car is just a product to move.
