I remember when, while I was still a teenager, my dad bought a new 1963 Corvette Stingray in "saddle tan", which was a coppery brown. It went against the grain of the 'Vette purists or the day, too, but remains one of the car nicest colors I ever saw, and you could drive it dirty without having to wash it all the time as it masked the dust/grime so well. If MINI is gonna promote their own type of SUV in the Traveller, it is destined to become the "family wagon"...and will get dirty a lot faster than what we drive and baby. If this is the type of color that is planned, then I say, bring it on! It just CANNOT be any worse than some of the MINI colors that have come and gone...like that GAWD-AWFUL GOLD.

I actually "warmed" to Solid Gold, specially in the Convertible.

I thought I remember reading somewhere about there being a US law, outlawing the sale of brown vehicles.

That brown MCS is horrendous. I doubt very much this is the same "brown" MINI has on the cards for the Clubman.

Maybe it wouldn't look so bad if the roof and wheels were not black. On the otherhand, maybe the car needs to be darker, but as it is, it STILL looks like German Shepherd excrement.

So I expect we'll see a run on personalized plates that say things like:

HERSHEY
UPS
POOPY
MINIPOO
and my personal favorite: *****

The problem isn't brown, the problem is non-metallic brown - it looks too organic.

A cola-brown metallic would be really nice

or better yet a tigers-eye metallic.

If it's like this old Mini color that was called Clove Brown (I think) sign me up. I am so tired of grey/blue/silver that I'm just glad to see BMW realize there are other colors out there.

I think this Innocenti in Brown is very nice!

Ooooh...I would be very pleased if the color were called "Clove Brown" for the obvious reason!

I think that unless they go for a REAL DARK brown bordering on Black, they will be in for a BIG shock

My parents had a '73 Chevy Malibu wagon in a brown color, possibly metallic, but I'm not sure, it was a long time ago, that was very warm and rich, and looked great, even on that car. But there are _so_ many shades of any color, that saying 'brown is good' or 'brown is bad' is ridiculous. I, like each of you, know what looks good to me. I'll know whether or not I'll like the Clubman brown when I see it.

I agree that the picture of the brown Innocenti looks pretty good...I would definitely buy a car in that color.

The dark brown is still not quite my thing, but I will definitely say that it is not ugly. I hope they have enough sense to make it dark and not fecal brown.

Hey! L@@ks like PuppyPoo indeed! (Good observation there, bamatt!) I guess what I should really say is I will have to see it in person. To each her/his own (puppy poo!)... ) I would have preferred a darker chocolate with little purple/greenish bits. Hey not everyone thinks my Hot Orange is all that. As if! Some people can be so SILLY! PS GREAT topless day today in NY.

At Mini Meet East in 2001 the raffle prize was a late 70's Mini in brown (exterior, wheels, and interior). Even before it was awarded, it became known to everyone as The Turd. We won, and I don't think anyone ever refered to it (other than us) as anything other than The Turd even after we had it. We drove it for a few years and then sold it, and it's still referred to as The Turd in even polite conversation. If you buy a brown MINI, be prepared for others to name it for you.
