2009 JCW Momentary Cut Out

Greets all,

Found this forum bc I was searching for info on a weird issue my car has. Someone mentioned that there was a post here similar to my issue but couldn't find it. I've owned my 09 JCW for a few weeks now and have noticed 2x whilst accelerating moderately/hard that power cuts out for a split second.

Is this traction control? It's very brief but very apparent and I would think TC would be smoother if it actuated... there are no other symptoms, car starts, idles and runs fine otherwise. . Car has 60k miles on it and has been maintained very well .
someone mentioned spark plugs but I doubt that, someone else said possibly a relay??

When were the plugs and coils changed last? You said you doubt it's spark plugs, but it sounds a lot like plugs/coils to me.

The plugs were done within the last few k miles. I said I doubted plugs because this issue would have to be ALL plugs or coils cutting out and back on at the exact same time. It's a complete cut out when it happens, not just like one or 2

Simple test for traction control would be to turn it off...

Knock? Bad gas? Coils? If I had a 13 year old Mini, I would definitely get a proper BMW / Mini code scan tool. If you're getting a super knock or other detonation, there will be a hidden code in the ECU.

Good info. I guess I could try turning off the tc every time I drive it because the issue is so seldom. I'm not familiar with the tc on these cars, is it like an immiediate switch off and then back on??? I doubt bad fuel because it's happened on different tank fulls. And doubtful coil, because when it happens it's not like one of 2 cyls....it's the entire motor

I'll look for the BMW scan tool
