Can Anyone help identify this Plug or what ever it is. When looking for the source of a oil leak, I got done removing everything to check the front crank seal I found this Plug a little bit skewed
when i touched it it moved around, It then pushed back into the block, could this be the source of the leak. Does this Plug have an o-ring or is it not supposed to move at all. Just very odd.
A little back story I just had to replace the belt and then 1 day later the belt popped off and was bouncing around a little before I could shut it off. I went ahead and replace the belt and tensioner, drove it 40 miles to work no problems, on the return job home oil started leaking, alternator would go in and out of charging and the water temp would go up, then go back to normal with just smoke a lot, made it home.

That plug should be sealed in place with Loctite 5970, according to newtis. They're showing it's tapped in place with a hammer and appropriate socket. Looks like the Loctite is available from ECS. It might be had to source locally.
Personally, I wouldn't go searching for the Loctite, I'd use the nearest equivalent Permatex product, which is sold at all the auto stores. They have an oil-resistant RTV silicone, which is what that Loctite is.
That plug is part of the timing chain guide assembly. There are 3 plastic guides that the timing chain slides along, and that plug holds one of them in place. A new one comes in most timing chain replacement kits. I just replaced the timing chain in my 2010 S Clubman and that was one of the pieces in the kit I bought from Detroit Tuned.
