I will need a bike rack I will only use once or twice. I am interested in a cheap one that straps onto the back of the car, not a hitch or top carrier. I cannot find anywhere that the strap-on ones will work with the clubman doors.

Has anyone used a cheap strap-on bike carrier like the below model on their clubman?

 

I gave up trying to find one that would work with the barn doors.....didn't try too hard because I just carried the bike inside the car and/or on roof racks. I thought that perhaps tying a knot in the straps that go above the barn doors and then closing them might work. The purpose of these straps isn't to carry weight, but to tightly link the top of the carrier to the car. Didn't ever test this out though. Whenever I've loaded something on a painted surface I've used gaffer tape to prevent paint damage....much better than duct tape.
