I recently purchased a 2010 mini clubman with 60k miles. Car is in great shape, only issue is it will sometimes randomly turn on sport mode without pressing button. Once this happens, I’m unable to turn sport mode off using button. Has anyone ever seen or ran into this issue?

Maybe it has a module for the always on sport button or coded. Or soda got spilled on the switch, is it sticky or dirty on the buttons.

 

Thanks a ton for your reply. Buttons look clean. It’s possible something spilled on it in the past before I owned the car, but hard to say. What’s odd is that I lose the ability to toggle sport mode off once it’s malfunctioned, or turned on without hitting the button.

 

Does it revert to non-Sport mode once you've switched off the engine, or does the Sport persist after a restart?

 

It does revert to sport mode after I turn off engine, or even shift into neutral. I had work done on it, had the shifter replaced and the transmission control module (diagnosed under warranty by mini dealer) and it actually didn’t fix it! Still looking for solutions.
