New to me ‘09 Clubman w/airbag seat belt light
Hey guys, several weeks ago I got my first Mini with about 62k on the odo. What a bucket of smiles and laughs it’s mostly been. I just love the thing; however, I’ve run into a code problem with it. I replaced the battery and then took the Mini to a local shop who is a so called “certified” Mini service place - our only dealer in Louisville just closed its doors. They cleared the error codes and said the seat belt occupancy sensor is going bad and smilingly presented me with a $1800 estimate to fix it. Whoa. I said no thanks and kept driving the car. Everything seemed to work fine when my wife or a passenger rode with me. No warning lights or anything; however, when I was in the car alone it would give me the giant airbag/seat belt code in the middle of the steering wheel. I purchased a bypass occupancy eBay kit to get rid of this and make the car merely think someone was always riding in the passenger seat; yet, when installed I still got the error. I took the Mini to a different local shop who then cleared all the codes except a 93BB error labeled as a Passenger Seat Belt Catch, Contact. Can anyone offer some help? Is this the seat belt tensioner issue?
