Do they still exist for our R55s or are they considered an urban legend?

 

They are nla. And so are the rare M7 coilovers.

Got it and thanks for the recommendations What are the current thoughts and reviews about the AST line of products? Is the only difference between the 2 AST springs for the R55 the rear lowering?

Here's my lowering dilemma - car is driven only 1x a week, if that. I want to lower it but not break the bank. Do I go for the springs of my choice + Koni Yellows and spend over $1k, or got with a complete kit like the B12s, Megan EU Street coilovers, BC Racing or similar to stay under $1k and be done with it.. Ahhh decisions

AST Supsension is top of the line as most people have posted about them. Their springs are great and have more coverage /levels of lowering then any other spring company. Many of the people in the company have MINIs so they have great coverage (MINI fans). They currently have MINIs in South Korea and all over racing with there kits. Their kits are based on per chassis(which I like). I would equate them to Bilstein and KW of level of involvement with building/tuning per model.

For a quick change and just want a lowered MINI with a better feel without breaking the bank, springs are easy. If you have low miles and want the OE shocks thats the way to go. You can pair them with Koni yellows for stage 2, and if you want something more coilovers are the next step.


Yes the rear lowering is the difference between that model.

To answer your question No M7 springs aren't avail for the R55. Which is a mute point as their earlier sets for the R50 and R53 would wear out after about 6 months of use so we would warn customers before they scheduled and install as we didn't want them surprised when they needed new springs in less than a year.

We've been using the NM springs in our shop for them and had good luck.

but I personally have a clubman and to lower it I would just go to coilovers as that way you can get the look, stance, and ride the way you would like. The Megans are really cost effective.
Also the Forge Coilovers have been pretty cost effective too. If you were close enough to our shop you could come ride in my R55 to see what you think.

 

I can vouch for the NM springs....mine have been in service for about 100,000 miles.....

We carry the NM spings, they are great also and many people like them.

AST just has about the best coverage I have seen for MINI and level options which are great. So another option in the limited coverage MINI owners are use to.
