Engine hesitates under hard throttle

Anyone else having this problem? I have an '08 Clubman S with 60,000 miles and I started to notice reduced power during hard acceleration a few months ago, and now it is starting to stutter. No issues when driving normal, just acts up when I stomp on the gas. New OEM battery, new timing chain, brand new rebuilt head (damaged when the timing chain failed) so no carbon buildup around the valves, ECU flash about a year ago. I can't find much information out there and don't want to just start replacing parts randomly. I would appreciate any suggestions.

High Pressure Fuel Pump. They put an extended warranty on them for 10yr/100K miles. My dealership here would do a free diagnostic for me including a loaner when I complained of a start up rattle(even though it ended up not being the timing chain), so I would assume most dealers will do a free diagnosis on most complaints that may be related to recall/extended warranty items.

if your car comes out as needing the high pressure pump, it's 100% free of charge to you. If it doesn't need it, then they most likely will have diagnosed the problem for free anyway and you will have that knowledge. (Though I've heard of dealerships diagnosing issues like this and just arbitrarily saying you need a valve cleaning for $1000+ simply because it's a quick easy money maker. Even saw a guy on here who had JUST cleaned his valves get told he needed it).

So if you have an honest dealer, it should go smoothly.

EDIT: Just for background, I am a mechanic by hobby and have been by trade in the past. So needless to say I do all my own maintenance and repairs. But I bought a modern car from a reputable dealer for a reason. Any time someone else get's their hands dirty diagnosing problems and doing warranty or recall work for me for free, I will damn sure take advantage of it lol.

wonder if using something dash command you could see the fuel pressure drop under load ? Not that I have any issues now but be nice to be able to diagnose this problem as my son has a 08 hardtop S

It's the high pressure injector pump so i would imagine if you can monitor injector pressures, you could potentially see it. I am not 100% sure on all the fuel parameters that can be monitored with dash command and the like. It is NOT the fuel pump that brings the fuel from the tank.
