The rear-most rack section on my passenger side (the "foot" above the right C-pillar/barn door) is lumpy under the black paint....which I think can only mean that there is some corrosion. The bubbling is on the bottom and both sides, but not the top. There is no other visible damage that I can find....that is, there are no dents or scratches.....and I haven't "abused' the rack in any way. The rest of my rack (and car) is fine - no rust or corrosion or bubbling under the paint. I keep the car and rack clean.

I've tried to take some pictures, but the lighting and weather haven't cooperated. Did a search on this, but didn't find anything.

Anybody else have this? I will be calling the dealer, but I expect they will want to see the car before they say anything, and I thought some research would be appropriate.

2009 Clubman - build date about September, 2008.

 

Similar issue here. Paint was peeling off the front foot, left rail. Dealer replaced it under warranty in august

 

The dealer replaced my part under warranty.

However, they said they weren't technically required to because the rust warranty doesn't apply to the roof rails.
