I'm sure this has been asked many times, but ive been searching all day, and I'm at my wits end. haha

Took car to dealer, and among the repairs they said i needed was to replace the VANOS solenoid.

Since they wanted a bunch of money, I opted to try and find the parts elsewhere. I cannot find the solenoid anywhere, is it possible to even buy outside a dealer replacing it?

When i search, it only comes up for BMW, not Mini. Interchangeable? Or do I just suck it up and pay the money?

Interesting issue you have, I am finding many BMW part numbers cross reference with MINI. Penske Parts is a good place to view part numbers and exploded views. Their prices are retail though.

I just replaced my vanos Monday. First off its really easy to change. The part however was impossible to find anywhere besides the dealer. I found 2 places online but with shipping were higher than the dealer. List was $155, with club discount I got mine for $107, from the dealer.
