R55 JCW Spoiler Adhesive

So just spent half my night at work looking for the best way to put my Wife's JCW Spoiler on her R55.

I read you are suppose to use Betalink K2 Adhesive, but that cost a lot and than you have to buy the special gun for it.

I have read that some people used the one stage adhesive, Betalink K1. Most the treads I found on that was for the JCW gen 1 carbon fiber wing.

My question is can you use the Betalink K1 Adhesive for the Clubman JCW spoiler? you just have to wait the 5 hours for dry time compared to the k2 hour dry time.

I just purchased the JCW spoiler for my R55 clubman. It came painted black for about $350.00

Installed using Betalink K1.

Piece of cake.

Cleaned the roof and spoiler feet with the included solution.

I outlined the area, masked it with tape, and applied the epoxy on the spoiler.

Taped it in place and 6 hours later, absolutely rigid.

The only difference from what I found out is the time of curing. If you own a car shop, I would assume the rapid cure has an advantage for owner pickup.

In my case, the car sat in the garage, and in the morning, a perfect result.

Don't hesitate to use the betalink k1

Sorry, but the project was so limited I found the need to document it unnecessary.

If I can give advice, I obsessively scoured the internet for additional information in anticipation of problems.

It really is a simple install.... some basic rules.
1.) Place the wing on the car and mark the roof site with a crayon. I used a yellow lumber crayon purchased at the hardware store. My roof is black and a felt marking pen really doesn't work. Cost about $1
2.) after marking the site, I used painters masking tape and tried to mask the area to prevent any glue excess from hitting the paint. Others had noted overlay and it is hard to get off the glue.
3.) The undersurface of the wing is recessed. I put three toothpaste thick lines on the spoiler feet. I stayed in the middle and assumed it would spread and fill the void. I didn't want too much.
4.) After applying the glue,, about 1/2 bottle, I placed it and wiggled it to get a firm bond. Then used the painters tape to hold the wing in place. The glue has a fairly high immediate adhesive state, like super thick caulk, so the wing won't move unless you want to move it once it is placed.
I had no glue extrusion so there was no excess clean up.
5.) Sit back and allow to dry. Mine was unmovable in 6 hours.

The end result looks perfect. I couldn't be happier...plus, I avoided the dealership.
